Buhari in total support of Tinubu – Lai Mohammed says he was misquoted

, ,

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said President Muhammadu Buhari is in total support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in the forthcoming election.

The minister made this clarification on Thursday in Abuja at the 22nd edition of the PMB Administration Scorecard Series (2015-2023), organised to project the achievements of the Buhari government.

He said his comment that “the President is committed to a free, fair and credible elections, and that he is doing everything possible to ensure a level-playing field for all contestants”, was misinterpreted by some sections of the media.

“Yesterday, while reacting to a question at the post-Federal Executive Council briefing at the State House, I said, inter alia, that Mr. President is committed to a free, fair and credible elections.

“This comment has been misinterpreted in some circles, especially with regards to Mr. President’s support for the presidential candidate of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“I want to say, unequivocally, that Mr. President is in total support of our party’s flag bearer, and that is attested to by his continuing campaign with the candidate across the country.

“It is preposterous to even suggest that Mr. President, who is the leader of our party, is equivocating on his support for our presidential candidate.

“I hope this clears any ambiguity that may have arisen from my statement yesterday,” he said.

PDP lied, no stone pelting of Buhari in Kano: Aso Rock Statement

,

PDP’S SAD CELEBRATION OF THE FALSE NEWS OF KANO STONE PELTING OF THE PRESIDENT

We have seen fake reports of a stone-pelting incident that took place in the Hotoro area of Kano on the day of the visit to the city by President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, an incident, even if minor, that should stand condemned by all well-meaning citizens.

Facts on ground as rendered by the law enforcement agencies speak of a clash between the local road transport authorities, the Kano Road Transport Authority, KAROTA and thugs hired by a yet-to-be identified group that took place when the President was being treated to a banquet at the Government House, well after he had finished his projects commissioning.

The President was in the state to work on the development, safety and security of the lives of common citizens and the happy thing about it was that the good people of Kano State were appreciative of him for the progress the state and the nation at large are making under him.

The divisive rhetoric of an opposition in a futile attempt to malign the image of the President and the candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the coming elections, and its desperate wedge-driving activities to cause a division between the party and the government is not what will give them victory.

A so-called leading opposition party that controls 14 states, going into elections with eight or nine of the states in tow should look inwards to see why their campaign is flagging and destined to fail. Their defeat is a foretold story by many discerning individuals.

The stone-pelters as seen from the video in the fight against the traffic police were innocent children sponsored by politicians and terrorist sympathizers. There is no place for violence in a democracy.

The PDP should use the opportunity of the electioneering to put their point of view in a democracy. When problems can be resolved through talks, there is no place for stone-pelting, arson and unruly behaviour as we are witnessing in some of the campaigns.

It is equally unhealthy for society and it becomes the duty of political, social and religious leaders to correctly inform the misled youngsters to shun the path of violence which is inimical to their own future.

Lastly is to say that the President has not lost his command and respect in Kano. For those who hold the border closure against him, they must come to realise that the 60-70 integrated rice mills in the city today would not have been in place if he had allowed the free-for-all smuggling to continue.

APC debunks PDP’s falsehood on Buhari’s attack: Statement

,

RE-ATTACK ON PRESIDENT BUHARI IN KANO

We were not surprised to read of the imaginary attack on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria being peddled by the Peoples Democratic Party since the party has nothing tangible to tell Nigerians from its crumbling Presidential Campaign.

This invented attack on President Muhammadu Buhari must have happened only in the fertile imagination of PDP National Publicity Secretary, one Debo Ologunagba.

Nigerians should disregard this fake news from a party that has lost touch with reality and suffering the agony of violating its own rules on power rotation.

Just as it has been masterminding fake news against the APC presidential candidate and trying vainly to cause disharmony in the APC family, we believe the party may have planned to embarrass President Buhari in Kano and then put the blame on host Governor Ganduje and Tinubu.

This is because PDP has of recent morphed from being a Buhari virulent critic to strangely becoming a Buhari spokesperson! The last time it issued a self-serving misinterpretation of Asíwájú’s statement in Abeokuta as an attack on President Buhari.

It should be quite obvious to Nigerians that the knowledge of impending defeat of PDP at the coming presidential poll has pushed the party and its candidate into frenzied hallucinatory mode of mindless, ridiculous, ludicrous litany of lies and fabrications against APC and its candidate.

The PDP is a drowning party feverishly clawing at any straw of lies and lashing out in all delusional directions to keep afloat – but sink it will.

We believe Nigerians are not taken in by the jejune antics.

The PDP now runs the most unethical, pernicious and inelegant, abusive, obtrusive and nationally divisive campaign in the history of electioneering in Nigeria.

The other day it was the PDP candidate Atiku who, out of frustration, stated publicly that the north must not vote anybody outside the region. It’s the same trend that characterizes the PDP campaign ever since.

That surely is a sign of defeat and readiness to sacrifice the unity of this country on the alter of unbridled inordinate ambition.

Nigerians are wiser and would never allow PDP centrifugal forces to take our nation down with it . All men and women of good conscience should rise up and use their votes to send PDP and its band of desperados to the dustbin of history where they rightfully belong.

Contrary to PDP fabrication, President Buhari was warmly received in Kano State today by the good people and government of the state where he commissioned eight hugely impactful projects including overhead bridge with underpass and a cancer centre.

On Sunday, we alerted the nation to the plot by PDP to orchestrate and execute many evil plans to defame, ridicule and delegitimise President Muhammadu Buhari and our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Nigerians of goodwill would have seen by now that we didn’t raise false alarm in our statement issued on 29 January , 2023 where we detailed the evil machinations of PDP and their hirelings.

Only the evil mind of PDP could conceive an attack on a President of Nigeria.

It is not impossible that PDP through its paid agents would organise miscreants to stage-manage an attack. But we are sure the security agencies are capable of foiling any planned attack on the President and anyone who is caught in such unholy plot now or in the future will have himself or herself to blame.

We call on the security agencies especially the Police and Department of State Services to immediately arrest PDP National Publicity Secretary for interrogation over this imaginary attack.

Buhari and Tinubu in Yola

Warm welcome awaits Buhari, Tinubu in Akwa Ibom tomorrow

,

By Iboro Otongaran

President Muhammadu Buhari is leading the APC presidential campaign train to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Monday, 30 January 2023 for a consequential political rally. The President is coming to town with the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; the presidential running mate of the party, Kashim Shettima; the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Adamu, along with other leaders and key stakeholders of the party.

In Uyo right now there is buoyancy in the air. The stage is set for a glitzy political carnival planned for the iconic Godswill Akpabio Stadium, a.k.a the Nest of Champions. The admirable backdrop to the rally in Uyo is that the President and his entourage are coming to be received by a united party, thanks to the bridge-building efforts of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Umana Okon Umana, who worked with other leaders of the party in the state to mend broken bones and heal festering wounds that had bugged the state chapter of the party for an annoyingly long spell. The lovely sign of unity and the sunshine of one house was in evidence on Thursday when leaders of the state APC jointly inspected preparations for the rally at the Nest of Champions. I was flushed with a sense of political well-being by the keepsake sight of Umana, Senator Akpabio, Obong Nsima Ekere, Otuekong Don Etiebet and other pillars of the party jointly going through details of the preparations and arrangements for the rally at the venue. A moving spectacle! When the will is there, there is always a way.

Unity is the appropriate prop needed to give the President, the APC presidential flagbearer, and other national leaders of the party the kind of welcome they deserve from Akwa Ibom people. It is that oneness of purpose and action that will bring out every Akwa Ibom son and daughter to the venue of the rally to show their appreciation to an administration like no other in prioritizing the wellbeing of Akwa Ibom people. Akwa Ibom people have so much to thank the Buhari administration and the APC for. Akwa Ibom people should throng the rally venue and demonstrate their support right across the state for an administration that gave the state a 50,000-hectare Free Zone, the Liberty Oil and Gas Free Zone, which spans six local government council areas of Oruk Anam, Ikot Abasi, Mkpat Enin, Onna, Ibeno, and Eastern Obolo—an investment with a huge crossover potential capable of changing the development dynamics of the state for the best, if properly tended.

Akwa Ibom people have to come out with pans and cymbals to ventilate their love for an administration that has just approved a licence for the state to own a utility firm that will transmit and distribute electricity from Ibom Power, first—as a matter of priority—to factories, businesses and homes in the state before any other consideration. Up to now electricity from Ibom Power is sold to the national grid which then transmits insufficient amount of power to the state, thereby making life difficult for businesses that have to operate with electricity.

The significance of the transmission and distribution licence by the federal authorities for Akwa Ibom State deserves to be properly contextualized for a keen appreciation of what is about to happen to God’s Own State. What this licence means, when it is operationalized, is that the state will have the capacity to take all of the 191MW of electricity generated by Ibom Power to meet every energy need in the state. The impact of this for the economy of the state is unimaginable. It will mean that whoever has an idea to go into business and those already running businesses, particularly in the hospitality industry, will not have to worry about expenses on private power, because the state would have become self-sufficient in electricity. The direct and trickle-down effect of sufficiency in electric power in the state is far, far reaching: the capital inflow from investments relocating to and setting up in the state to take advantage of cheap, quality power will lift the economic fortunes of the state to what can be considered now as a fairy tale.

The feel of federal presence in the state under the current administration is indeed strong. The Buhari administration has also approved for the state a federal university of technology, which is located in Ikot Abasi.

With regard to federal appointments, the state has never had a friendlier government at the centre. Akwa Ibom sons have been minister of Niger Delta Affairs back to back. Besides appointments meant to meet the requirements for the equality of states, Akwa Ibom has received a warmer handshake in board appointments and other preferential treatment from the current federal government.

The kind and supportive relationship that the state has enjoyed from the federal government under President Buhari needs to be contrasted with the nasty experience of the state not too long ago, under a different presidency, when Akwa Ibom State was hounded, oppressed and denied its due through both sneaky and blatant kick-in-the-teeth tactics, for doing no known wrong. First the state was denied its due in derivation revenues through the court process instigated by the federal government, and when that unjustifiable denial was set aside by way of a political solution by the intervention of the National Assembly, the head of the same federal administration arbitrarily seized nearly 300 oil wells from the state and “dashed” them to neighbouring states, just to make sure Akwa Ibom people feel his imperial impertinence! It took the sense of justice and humanity of a succeeding administration to get a redress for the state.

This history needs to be remembered so that we can truly appreciate a good turn when we see it, so that we don’t take anything for granted, and more importantly, so that we don’t fall into the trap that George Santayana warned against, which is that those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it. We seem to have forgotten the past already. When I see Akwa Ibom people celebrating a man who was at the head of the government that did all this evil to the state, when I see some of our people celebrating his latest political posturing, I worry about our sense of history.

Let us remember those who tried to do us in and those who are doing us good. Buhari and the APC administration have been good, indeed very good to Akwa Ibom people. It is time to pay back. Our people should come out in their hundreds of thousands and welcome the President, the APC presidential candidate and the party leaders to Akwa Ibom State. Let us guarantee the rally of all rallies for our presidential candidate. Let us show our support for APC that has been so good to Akwa Abasi Ibom State!

APC PCC welcomes Naira swap deadline extension, praises Buhari, Emefiele

PRESS STATEMENT

APC PCC COMMENDS CBN OVER EXTENSION OF NAIRA SWAP DEADLINE

We want to commend the Central Bank of Nigeria and Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele for listening to the voice of well meaning Nigerians on the exigency of extending the deadline for change of old N200, N500 and N1000 naira notes to the new ones.

Following difficulties experienced by Nigerians from across the country from getting the new notes via ATMs and over the counter from Banks, many Nigerians especially requested for an extension of the 31 January, 2023 deadline.

We welcome the 10 day extension of deadline and the additional seven days of grace.

This window will enable Nigerians especially those in rural and remote areas to have more time to change their old notes and avert the panic that would have followed.

We specially commend Presidential Muhammadu Buhari for approving this extension and for his leadership and statesmanship.

In the same vein, we praise our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his forthrightness in addressing the concerns of Nigerians at his campaign rally in Abeokuta last week.

Asiwaju Tinubu didn’t take the easy road by shying away from what would have caused serious inconvenience for our teeming masses.

Asiwaju showed leadership and compassion for the welfare of Nigerians, at the most appropriate time.

Tinubu in Zamfara says no friction with Buhari

PRESS RELEASE

I have no friction with President Buhari, Tinubu tells APC supporters in Zamfara

The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has dismissed any insinuation of friction in his relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari.

On the contrary, he said his support for the president is unalloyed and enduring.

Addressing APC rally in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital on Saturday, Asiwaju Tinubu promised to tackle problems bedevilling the state and enhance agricultural productivity.

He thanked the people of Zamfara State and key party leaders for the warm welcome and their continued support for the APC.

In his prepared speech which he could not read because of massive crowd, Tinubu said “I have supported President Buhari even before his first day in office. I will continue to be his supporter and friend after his last day in office”.

He said President Buhari is leading the nation with courage and selflessness.

“He tackled the problems other leaders ran from. He has earned a place in history that cannot be denied.

“I have said this before and will say it again now: when the true history of this moment is written,  President Buhari shall be treated very kindly because of his contributions to the nation,” he said.

While taking a jab at the opposition, Asiwaju Tinubu described them as misguided politicians who don’t want greatness to happen or to last.

“Their vision for Nigeria is the vision of one who cannot see. They seek to enrich themselves by making you poor. They want to eat everything so that you might go hungry. They want to own everything but leave you with nothing.

“We stand here today to affirm that our vision for a greater Nigeria will triumph over their blind vision for a broken Nigeria. Remember, where there is blind vision, there is also blind ambition.

“We will not allow their selfish games to overtake you. President Buhari has done his part to free Nigeria from their mean grip. Now we must do our part by freeing you from the selfish plans they have for you and our beloved land.

“Do not let those others fool you into returning to the past where you had no hope and had no say regarding the life you shall live and the future  you shall enter. The APC remains the best and only hope for a more prosperous and peaceful nation.”

Tinubu said he is conscious of the challenges faced by the people of Zamfara State and has plans to ameliorate them.

He said President Buhari and Governor Bello Matawalle had been doing their best to end the banditry problem, pledging to consolidate on the gains recorded.

“If Allah blesses us to win this election, we will not relent until we beat this problem.

“My running mate has battled Boko Haram. As governor of Lagos, I too have fought kidnappers and violent criminals. We will use our experience and our vision to defeat the wrongdoers.
“My security plan will  empower all branches of security forces. There will be more personnel and we shall improve their ability to identify, pursue and stop the evil – doers. We will use modern air and ground technology to trace and capture these criminals.”

The APC candidate also promised to turn around the agricultural fortunes of the state and develop other natural resources found in the state.

“Zamfara State has great deposits of natural resources. My economic plan is to closely cooperate with the state government to attract the right type of investment in mining. This investment will not exploit the people of Zamfara. Instead, it will open the door to safer mining, better jobs and increased economic growth for the state.”
APC National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle, who spoke at the rally, charged residents of the state to massively support Tinubu in view of his good plans for the state and Nigeria.

Before attending the rally, Tinubu had visited the Emir of Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, who conferred the title of Wakilin Raya Karkara (Ambassador for Rural Transformation) on him.

Tinubu was accompanied by Governor Atiku Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Senator Aliyu Wamakko from Sokoto State, former Zamfara State governors; Senator Sani Yerima, Alhaji Mahmuda Shinkafi and Senator Abdulaziz Yari, among other APC chieftains.

The rally was also attended by former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen Tukur Buratai (rtd), APC National Women Leader, Dr Betta Edu, Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Masari among others.

Buhari to Yobe voters: Elect Tinubu to sustain progress on security

, ,

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged voters in Yobe and north east part to ensure the election of his party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on 25 February.

Mr Femi Adesina, the President’s spokesman said the president was speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally at August 27 Stadium in Damaturu, Yobe, on Tuesday.

The president said a vote for Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, would guarantee the sustenance of progress made in the security, economy and education sectors of the country.

According to him, following the victory against terrorists in the region, the APC-led government is more than ever before energised to defeat whoever threatens the unity of Nigeria.

The president, who addressed the mammoth crowd in Hausa language, recounted how Boko Haram inflicted damage on the people, their property and the economy, before their decimation by Nigeria Armed Forces and security agencies.

He emphasised the need for education in countering the despicable ideology of Boko Haram.

“Make sure you send your children to school and make them understand that whatever you have in this world can be taken away from you except the knowledge you have.

‘‘I was an orphan; I did not know my father. I spent nine years in a boarding school and because of education, I was enlisted into the Nigerian Army.

‘‘I want you to strengthen your faith, try your best to uphold the children and family God has entrusted to you. Do not betray that trust,” the president told parents and guardians in Yobe.

Buhari challenged the APC flag bearers in the forthcoming general elections to ensure good governance when elected and not to disappoint the electorate.

According to him, the governing party has done its utmost in the last eight years at the federal level and will continue to ensure the progress, prosperity and stability of Nigeria.

In his remarks, the presidential candidate of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, urged Nigerians to reject the lies peddled by the opposition parties on the Buhari-led administration.

“This government is a government of progress, integrity and honesty,” he said.

The APC presidential candidate, who lauded Buhari for the return of peace and normalcy in the northeast region of the country, promised that his government would turn the region into the agro-allied processing centre of Nigeria.

“We will give you good jobs that you can depend on. Agriculture will come back. Hunger will go away. We will give you what is necessary, consumer credit to build houses and roofs over your heads,” he said.

Tinubu also promised to make the perennial ASUU strikes history, adding that undergraduates would not need to spend extra years in the university beyond the standard duration of course of study.

He, therefore, urged the people of Yobe and northeast Nigeria to vote APC candidates in the general elections, assuring that the economy would blossom under his watch.

The President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, promised that APC would win every contestable seat in Yobe because President Buhari had done wonderfully well in the last seven and half years in office.

He accused PDP of destroying Nigeria during its 16 years in power, saying “they should be ashamed of themselves and have no right to go around Nigeria seeking votes.”

‘‘We are all Buharists and that Buharism – integrity and love for country – will continue when you (President Buhari) hand over to Asiwaju,” Lawan said at the presidential campaign rally attended by all the APC governors from the region.

The National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu, the Vice Presidential Candidate, Shettima as well as Plateau State governor and Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Simon Lalong, among others, attended the event.

APC all the way: Buhari, Tinubu, Binani and Adamu

Buhari hits Atiku’s home state, urges voters elect Tinubu, Aisha Binani

, ,

President Muhammadu Buhari Monday in Yola, Adamawa State, called on voters to support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate and Senator Aisha Dahiru Ahmed-Binani, the governorship candidate.

He urged the voters to shun sentiments, and make history by electing Binani as the first female Governor in the country in 2023.

He said her track record of dedication to duty and service will improve the livelihood of citizens.

The President, who spoke at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential and Gubernatorial Flagoff of campaigns in Adamawa State, told voters that Sen. Binani had consistently worked for the welfare of the State and indigenes over many years.

He said entrusting her with the Office of the Governor would further strengthen her to reposition the State for greatness.

“Let me remind you of the good fortune that is awaiting your State in 2023 after returning the APC to power at the federal level and electing the party’s candidate as your incoming governor.

“You have been given the opportunity to set a record in the history of Nigeria and the annals of democracy and politics in our country by electing the first ever female chief executive of a state in Nigeria.

“You cannot afford that such a significant opportunity would slip through your fingers.

“I am, therefore, calling on all the men, women and youth of Adamawa State, the northeast and indeed the entire country, to support the candidature of Senator Aisha Binani and ensure her victory in March, 2023,’’ he said.

President Buhari urged the electorate to vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as President and Vice President in the forthcoming elections, and candidates of the APC for Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly.

“I am delighted to be here today in Yola, Adamawa State, to be part of the campaign of our candidates for different offices in the country, starting from presidential, to gubernatorial, national and state assemblies. It is All Progressives Congress (APC) from top to bottom.

“APC for President! APC for Governor! APC for Senate! APC for House of Representatives! APC for Assembly Members!,’’ the President noted.

President Buhari said the APC had a vision of making Adamawa State more peaceful, progressive and prosperous.

“Your contributions in Adamawa State to our national development can be attested to by your output in agriculture, fishery, livestock, industry, manufacturing, commerce, mining, among others.

“Your achievements in the areas of education have made us proud and given us immense joy and satisfaction. Adamawa people are progressive in nature, and it is time to prove it once again.

“Our vision for Adamawa as a peaceful, progressive and prosperous state is strong and enduring. With your perseverance and determination, the All Progressives Congress (APC) will make Adamawa a model state in all areas of endeavour,’’ he stated.

The President urged youths in the state and country to pursue values that will bring honor to their families and the country, advising that Nigeria’s image could only be improved by the citizens.

“Let me now speak to the youths of our country, and Adamawa State particularly. I want you to know that you mean so much to us. Please remain loyal and patriotic citizens, learn from your elders and behave responsibly at all times.

“There can be no other place better than this country that promises so much to us and beckons us to greater prosperity.

“I want you to remain true to our ideals of decency, respect and accountability. You should bear your responsibilities seriously and acquit yourself well in all that you are called on to do.

“You should all come out and vote in the forthcoming elections, exercise your franchise responsibly and do not allow yourselves to be misled by vain sentiments and idle promises.

“Let me remind you and the entire people of Nigeria that the eyes of the world will be on you come February and March, 2023. Therefore do not give in to temptation and allow yourselves to be manipulated,’’ he added.

The President advised the youths to remain loyal to the APC by sensitizing on the gains of the party, and voting for its candidates at various levels.

“I wish specially to thank you for reposing your trust in me and giving me your support during the last two presidential elections.

“I want you to continue with this spirit and remain loyal to our party the APC. I want you to support our candidates at all levels in the state and federal elections. You can trust Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Jagaban of Borgu, our party’s flag-bearer and presidential candidate, together with his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.

“I want you to vote for them massively, retain the party in power at the centre, and also return Adamawa to the rank of the progressives.

“I want you to wholeheartedly embrace the message of “RENEWED HOPE” on which our candidates and party are campaigning,’’ the President said.

In his remarks, the APC National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu called on voters to elect Asiwaju Tinubu for President, and Sen. Binani for Governor of Adamawa State.

Adamu assured the large gathering of party supporters at the Muhammadu Buhari Square that both candidates had been tested with responsibilities at various levels of governance, and would work together for the benefit of the people.

Presidential Candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Tinubu thanked the President for leading the country with integrity, and setting new standards in development projects.

“Nigeria is blessed. We have integrity in President Buhari. Whatever damage the Poverty Development Party, PDP, has done, we will replace it with joy, prosperity, happiness and employment for our people.

“We will get you engaged properly. We will pay attention to your needs. Vote Binani for governor of the state, and when we are elected, we will work together to provide good water, education, health and end killings and kidnapping,” he said.

Binani pleaded with the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, APC stalwart, Nuhu Ribadu and member of House of Representatives, Abdulrazak Namdas to join hands with her in ensuring success at the polls, and lifting the state to greater heights.

Former Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, urged the electorates to vote for Asiwaju Tinubu for President, and Binani for Governor of the state, noting that Tinubu and his Vice Presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, had set precedence of good leadership as former governors.

He said Binani would build on past achievements in the state, and correct anomalies in leadership and development, especially in placing the welfare of the people first and ensuring inclusive governance.

Buhari and Tinubu at the rally in Jos

Buhari set for Tinubu-Shettima rallies in Adamawa, Sokoto

, ,

President Muhammadu Buhari will attend the All Progressives Congress presidential rallies from Monday, squelching rumours of aloofness from the campaign being spread by PDP.

He is starting with the mega rally in Adamawa, where the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and governorship candidate Senator Aishatu Binani are planning to upset PDP and Atiku Abubakar, its presidential candidate.

Atiku hails from the state and he narrowly defeated Buhari in 2019 election.

Buhari is also an in-law to the people of Adamawa, as his wife, Aisha comes from the state.

Buhari had won the state handily in four previous elections in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015.

According to a readjusted campaign programme, President Buhari will also show up in Sokoto on Monday 15 January and on Saturday 21 January, in Calabar, Cross River.

He is also expected in Ogun on 25 January, a day after commissioning Dangote Refinery, Lagos Blue Line and other projects in Lagos.

The two other rallies that the President will attend are those planned for Kwara on 28 January and Yobe on 30 January.

Last year, Buhari banned serving officials to stay away from campaigns, as he wanted them to concentrate on their jobs.

About

Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a man of many traditional honours across the country, from north to south, west to east. The array of titles he has garnered was only comparable to that of Chief Moshood Abiola, winner of the 1993 Presidential election.
