Tinubu unveils big plans for Edo’s gas deposits

At Edo TownHall, Tinubu says Nigeria will make money from gas deposits in Edo

…PDP abuse does not move President Buhari

All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured the people of Edo State that he will make money for Nigeria and create prosperity for the people of the state by ensuring the development of the gas deposits in the state.

Tinubu spoke on Sunday at the town hall meeting in Benin to APC stakeholders and different trade groups and civil society organisations.

He said under his leadership Nigeria will pipe gas to Europe and compete with Russia.

He urged the people of Edo State to take back their state from Peoples Democratic Party by forging unity of purpose.

He promised to be a listening president the people of Edo State can rely on.

“Edo, take your state back. First of all let us forge unity. Let’s find the way where they say there is no way.

“We must rescue Edo State. I am ready to work with you. Take lantern, go from house to house. Don’t get angry. Anger does not solve problems. Disappointment is an energiser for me. You Disappoint me, I work harder. You betray me, I don’t get angry, I ignore you.

“The reason is because you are not my God and you are not my creator. My mother taught me if you are sad, I will share your sorrow with you, if you are happy I will rejoice with you. If you are poor I will share the little I have with you”.

The APC Presidential candidate charged the Edo State people not to vote for PDP and Atiku Abubakar because the opposition party is not organised and can’t solve problems of the country.

“You see PDP. They are scattered, they don’t know the road. Atiku does not know how to lie again except falsifying lie upon lie. Atiku cannot hold serious job for Nigeria. When they were privatising Aluminium Smelter Company at Ikot Abasi and privatising NITEL, I was negotiating Free Trade Zone in China. I negotiated Lekki Deep Seaport in Singapore and it is Deepest Sea Port now in West Africa. Edo people are extremely smart. You can do the job.

“Count on me at the federal level. I will be your listening President. Vote for me. Prosperity is here. When you put down ballot paper in the box say it is for creating job. I will create jobs for you because you are not lazy.”

On constant criticism of the Buhari-led APC administration by PDP, Asiwaju Tinubu said the opposition party should be ignored.

“People who can’t give power to Nigeria say they want to come back. In only 8 years, APC put rail back. We are putting Refineries back and we will produce for you. They can abuse Buhari from morning till night, he does not hear their abuse. Abuse him, rail he provided, second Niger Bridge he provided, Lagos-Ibadan expressway he provided. Benin-Ore Port will be done so that you don’t need to come to Lagos to clear your goods.

“Nigeria will make money because Edo has largest deposit of gas. We will make money for Nigeria. There will be long term money for long term projects. We will develop our gas and ship it to Europe and compete with Russia. I am one of the smartest assets of Nigeria.”

Speaking further from his prepared speech at the town hall meeting, the former Lagos State Governor said his administration will grow the nation’s industrial base to provide decent jobs and improve the wages of Nigerians.

“We must now begin to make use of all our nation’s endowments. Greater industrialisation is a vital aspect of this. Through the production of more and better goods we shall improve our standard of living, provide workers with a living wage and establish businesses that will drive our national economy for generations.”

According to the APC candidate, massive industrialisation across the country will cause economic prosperity to spread across the length and breadth of this country.

“Our industrial plan shall encourage the establishment of new manufacturing concerns across the country. We see a future in which Nigeria is known as a nation that produces high quality goods worthy of export to anywhere in the world.

“To achieve this vision, we shall use an array of policy measures. On the fiscal side, we shall employ tax credits and holidays, youth employment incentives, export credits and well-tailored subsidies where necessary. On the monetary side, we will work with the banking sector to channel low interest loans to the manufacturing sector.

“We will spark a consumer credit revolution where affordable credit is available so people can purchase cars, homes and appliances without carrying the burden of paying for such costly items all at once.

“Our policies will afford local artisans and craftsmen throughout the nation the necessary tools to provide for their families and, ultimately, boost overall economic activity for the national good,” he added.

Present at the town hall meeting were Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Nuhu Ribadu, Professor Osunbor, Edo State APC Governorship candidate in last state election, Pastor Ize Iyamu, Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, Minister of State for Labour, Festus Keyamo and many other party leaders from Edo State.

Atiku subverted PDP constitution: Nnamani explains support for Tinubu

, , ,

Sen. Chimaroke Nnamani said he decided to align with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, because the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) breached its Constitution, by subverting the principle of power rotation.

Nnamani said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.

He said the PDP’s constitution prescribed that key political offices be rotated between the North and the south to ensure equity, justice and fairness.

”Conscious of the need to share and rotate key political offices among the diverse people of our country, the PDP constitution clearly stated that it shall adhere at all times to the policy of the rotation and zoning of the party and public elective offices in pursuance of the principle of equity , justice and fairness.

“Even when the PDP national Chairman Iyorchia Ayu made a firm commitment to step down should a Northerner emerge as presidential candidate for 2023 election, the leadership jettisoned the constitutional provision and turned the logic upside down .

“Recalled that the PDP in 2019 allowed the North to contest the primaries for the presidency in Port Harcourt, Rivers in which Atiku Abubakar clinched the ticket and contested the election.

“It was expected that in 2023, the PDP in a corresponding manner allows the South to contest for the plum position, but the party in its decision open the contest for both the Northern and Southern aspirants.

“In a twist of events and political maneuvering Atiku Abubakar got the ticket again,” Nnamani said.

“The outcome of the presidential primaries infuriated southern PDP faithful including the G.5 Governors who insist on respecting the North/ South rotation principle.”

Nnamani said the action of the PDP amounted to injustice and lack of equity, saying that it was morally wrong to leave power in the north after President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure in 2023.

The former governor of Enugu State said that Buhari in recognition of the North and South power rotation created a window for political balancing that enabled Tinubu to emerge as APC presidential candidate.

“Having critically examined the situation , I found Bola Tinubu as the preferred candidate from the south to foot the bill in 2023,” he said.

Buhari and Tinubu in Yola

Warm welcome awaits Buhari, Tinubu in Akwa Ibom tomorrow

,

By Iboro Otongaran

President Muhammadu Buhari is leading the APC presidential campaign train to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Monday, 30 January 2023 for a consequential political rally. The President is coming to town with the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; the presidential running mate of the party, Kashim Shettima; the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Adamu, along with other leaders and key stakeholders of the party.

In Uyo right now there is buoyancy in the air. The stage is set for a glitzy political carnival planned for the iconic Godswill Akpabio Stadium, a.k.a the Nest of Champions. The admirable backdrop to the rally in Uyo is that the President and his entourage are coming to be received by a united party, thanks to the bridge-building efforts of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Umana Okon Umana, who worked with other leaders of the party in the state to mend broken bones and heal festering wounds that had bugged the state chapter of the party for an annoyingly long spell. The lovely sign of unity and the sunshine of one house was in evidence on Thursday when leaders of the state APC jointly inspected preparations for the rally at the Nest of Champions. I was flushed with a sense of political well-being by the keepsake sight of Umana, Senator Akpabio, Obong Nsima Ekere, Otuekong Don Etiebet and other pillars of the party jointly going through details of the preparations and arrangements for the rally at the venue. A moving spectacle! When the will is there, there is always a way.

Unity is the appropriate prop needed to give the President, the APC presidential flagbearer, and other national leaders of the party the kind of welcome they deserve from Akwa Ibom people. It is that oneness of purpose and action that will bring out every Akwa Ibom son and daughter to the venue of the rally to show their appreciation to an administration like no other in prioritizing the wellbeing of Akwa Ibom people. Akwa Ibom people have so much to thank the Buhari administration and the APC for. Akwa Ibom people should throng the rally venue and demonstrate their support right across the state for an administration that gave the state a 50,000-hectare Free Zone, the Liberty Oil and Gas Free Zone, which spans six local government council areas of Oruk Anam, Ikot Abasi, Mkpat Enin, Onna, Ibeno, and Eastern Obolo—an investment with a huge crossover potential capable of changing the development dynamics of the state for the best, if properly tended.

Akwa Ibom people have to come out with pans and cymbals to ventilate their love for an administration that has just approved a licence for the state to own a utility firm that will transmit and distribute electricity from Ibom Power, first—as a matter of priority—to factories, businesses and homes in the state before any other consideration. Up to now electricity from Ibom Power is sold to the national grid which then transmits insufficient amount of power to the state, thereby making life difficult for businesses that have to operate with electricity.

The significance of the transmission and distribution licence by the federal authorities for Akwa Ibom State deserves to be properly contextualized for a keen appreciation of what is about to happen to God’s Own State. What this licence means, when it is operationalized, is that the state will have the capacity to take all of the 191MW of electricity generated by Ibom Power to meet every energy need in the state. The impact of this for the economy of the state is unimaginable. It will mean that whoever has an idea to go into business and those already running businesses, particularly in the hospitality industry, will not have to worry about expenses on private power, because the state would have become self-sufficient in electricity. The direct and trickle-down effect of sufficiency in electric power in the state is far, far reaching: the capital inflow from investments relocating to and setting up in the state to take advantage of cheap, quality power will lift the economic fortunes of the state to what can be considered now as a fairy tale.

The feel of federal presence in the state under the current administration is indeed strong. The Buhari administration has also approved for the state a federal university of technology, which is located in Ikot Abasi.

With regard to federal appointments, the state has never had a friendlier government at the centre. Akwa Ibom sons have been minister of Niger Delta Affairs back to back. Besides appointments meant to meet the requirements for the equality of states, Akwa Ibom has received a warmer handshake in board appointments and other preferential treatment from the current federal government.

The kind and supportive relationship that the state has enjoyed from the federal government under President Buhari needs to be contrasted with the nasty experience of the state not too long ago, under a different presidency, when Akwa Ibom State was hounded, oppressed and denied its due through both sneaky and blatant kick-in-the-teeth tactics, for doing no known wrong. First the state was denied its due in derivation revenues through the court process instigated by the federal government, and when that unjustifiable denial was set aside by way of a political solution by the intervention of the National Assembly, the head of the same federal administration arbitrarily seized nearly 300 oil wells from the state and “dashed” them to neighbouring states, just to make sure Akwa Ibom people feel his imperial impertinence! It took the sense of justice and humanity of a succeeding administration to get a redress for the state.

This history needs to be remembered so that we can truly appreciate a good turn when we see it, so that we don’t take anything for granted, and more importantly, so that we don’t fall into the trap that George Santayana warned against, which is that those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it. We seem to have forgotten the past already. When I see Akwa Ibom people celebrating a man who was at the head of the government that did all this evil to the state, when I see some of our people celebrating his latest political posturing, I worry about our sense of history.

Let us remember those who tried to do us in and those who are doing us good. Buhari and the APC administration have been good, indeed very good to Akwa Ibom people. It is time to pay back. Our people should come out in their hundreds of thousands and welcome the President, the APC presidential candidate and the party leaders to Akwa Ibom State. Let us guarantee the rally of all rallies for our presidential candidate. Let us show our support for APC that has been so good to Akwa Abasi Ibom State!

APC PCC welcomes Naira swap deadline extension, praises Buhari, Emefiele

, ,

PRESS STATEMENT

APC PCC COMMENDS CBN OVER EXTENSION OF NAIRA SWAP DEADLINE

We want to commend the Central Bank of Nigeria and Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele for listening to the voice of well meaning Nigerians on the exigency of extending the deadline for change of old N200, N500 and N1000 naira notes to the new ones.

Following difficulties experienced by Nigerians from across the country from getting the new notes via ATMs and over the counter from Banks, many Nigerians especially requested for an extension of the 31 January, 2023 deadline.

We welcome the 10 day extension of deadline and the additional seven days of grace.

This window will enable Nigerians especially those in rural and remote areas to have more time to change their old notes and avert the panic that would have followed.

We specially commend Presidential Muhammadu Buhari for approving this extension and for his leadership and statesmanship.

In the same vein, we praise our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his forthrightness in addressing the concerns of Nigerians at his campaign rally in Abeokuta last week.

Asiwaju Tinubu didn’t take the easy road by shying away from what would have caused serious inconvenience for our teeming masses.

Asiwaju showed leadership and compassion for the welfare of Nigerians, at the most appropriate time.

PDP, Atiku unleash wave of fake news against Tinubu, Shettima

, ,

PRESS STATEMENT

PDP’S ORCHESTRATED PLOT TO UNLEASH FAKE NEWS AND DISINFORMATION DAYS TO ELECTION

We want to alert Nigerians to the sinister moves and orchestrated plans of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party to unleash a wave of fake news especially in Hausa language to malign, defame and delegitimise Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC before Nigerians.

This scurrilous campaign by the PDP has already been perfected with a dedicated team working day and night from the PDP national headquarters at Wadata House, Abuja.

The party has also recruited many social media actors to carry out the campaign of calumny by proxy.

We uncovered this evil plot targeted to manipulate Nigerians and most especially Northerners to see Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in bad light as the only way for PDP and its failing presidential campaign to have a chance at the February 25 presidential election.

We consider it necessary at this point to advert the mind of Nigerians to this evil plan capable of causing disharmony, ill-will and needless crisis with attendant security implications in the country.

PDP and their hired social media influencers have already started pushing their nefarious contents by spoofing and using parody social media accounts of popular newspapers and blogs to disseminate fake news with the sole aim of hoodwinking gullible Nigerians.

Many parody social media accounts such as ‘Vanguard Hausa’, ‘DailyTrust Hausa’ have been created and also being used to circulate fake news on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp and other digital platforms.

On Facebook, we found that Daily Trust Hausa was first created as K.R.K Media on 9 August 2021. It changed its name to Daily Trust Media on 7 December 2022 and has a fake website address daily.com.

A second Daily Trust Hausa Facebook account was created 13 August 2022 as Facos News Hausa, with the objective of publishing posts on Musicians. It changed its name on 29 December 2022, just 22 days after its other clone.

Vanguard Hausa was created 21 December 2021. Its website failed to open

All these parody Facebook accounts were used by the PDP on Saturday to publish malicious fake news that trucks carrying old Naira notes, belonging to Tinubu were arrested in Lagos.

For clarification, Daily Trust does publish a Hausa paper called Aminiya, which is also on Facebook with the same name. We are not aware that Vanguard has a similar publication.

We implore the two newspapers, Daily Trust and Vanguard to inform Facebook and Meta that they have been cloned by fake news merchants, for political offensives, masterminded by PDP.

Part of the PDP’s evil machinations will be to make false claims and allegations against President Muhammadu Buhari, Asiwaju Tinubu, his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima and other APC National, Regional, Zonal and State leaders in manipulated videos, doctored voice overs, photoshop images and other means all in a bid to win election by hook or crook.

PDP and its Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar know they can’t win this coming election. They also know Nigerians will never vote for PDP to take over the leadership of Nigeria after inflicting 16 years of misery on Nigerians.

The legacies the party left behind were insecurity, badly managed economy, looted treasury, derelict national infrastructure in roads, power, ports, rail, pipelines among many others. The Buhari administration is still struggling to unmake the massive damage done to our country by the party.

Because Atiku’s Presidential Campaign is heading to a crash, PDP futilely hopes to avoid the impending electoral defeat by sponsoring a coordinated fake news assault on APC, our presidential candidate and even against the government.

We use this medium to urge Nigerians and most especially our compatriots in Northern Nigeria not to allow themselves to be deceived.

Atiku and PDP have nothing good to offer Nigerians other than his rabid ambition to enrich himself, family members and cronies as revealed in audio and video leaks by Atiku’s former Media Aide, Mike Achimugu.

The APC administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is working very hard to solve many of Nigeria’s decades-long problems across sectors and it is only another APC administration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima that can continue, sustain and improve on the trajectory of good governance that began from 2015.

About

Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a man of many traditional honours across the country, from north to south, west to east. The array of titles he has garnered was only comparable to that of Chief Moshood Abiola, winner of the 1993 Presidential election.
