Tinubu in Zamfara

Tinubu in Zamfara says no friction with Buhari

PRESS RELEASE

I have no friction with President Buhari, Tinubu tells APC supporters in Zamfara

The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has dismissed any insinuation of friction in his relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari.

On the contrary, he said his support for the president is unalloyed and enduring.

Addressing APC rally in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital on Saturday, Asiwaju Tinubu promised to tackle problems bedevilling the state and enhance agricultural productivity.

He thanked the people of Zamfara State and key party leaders for the warm welcome and their continued support for the APC.

In his prepared speech which he could not read because of massive crowd, Tinubu said “I have supported President Buhari even before his first day in office. I will continue to be his supporter and friend after his last day in office”.

He said President Buhari is leading the nation with courage and selflessness.

“He tackled the problems other leaders ran from. He has earned a place in history that cannot be denied.

“I have said this before and will say it again now: when the true history of this moment is written,  President Buhari shall be treated very kindly because of his contributions to the nation,” he said.

While taking a jab at the opposition, Asiwaju Tinubu described them as misguided politicians who don’t want greatness to happen or to last.

“Their vision for Nigeria is the vision of one who cannot see. They seek to enrich themselves by making you poor. They want to eat everything so that you might go hungry. They want to own everything but leave you with nothing.

“We stand here today to affirm that our vision for a greater Nigeria will triumph over their blind vision for a broken Nigeria. Remember, where there is blind vision, there is also blind ambition.

“We will not allow their selfish games to overtake you. President Buhari has done his part to free Nigeria from their mean grip. Now we must do our part by freeing you from the selfish plans they have for you and our beloved land.

“Do not let those others fool you into returning to the past where you had no hope and had no say regarding the life you shall live and the future  you shall enter. The APC remains the best and only hope for a more prosperous and peaceful nation.”

Tinubu said he is conscious of the challenges faced by the people of Zamfara State and has plans to ameliorate them.

He said President Buhari and Governor Bello Matawalle had been doing their best to end the banditry problem, pledging to consolidate on the gains recorded.

“If Allah blesses us to win this election, we will not relent until we beat this problem.

“My running mate has battled Boko Haram. As governor of Lagos, I too have fought kidnappers and violent criminals. We will use our experience and our vision to defeat the wrongdoers.
“My security plan will  empower all branches of security forces. There will be more personnel and we shall improve their ability to identify, pursue and stop the evil – doers. We will use modern air and ground technology to trace and capture these criminals.”

The APC candidate also promised to turn around the agricultural fortunes of the state and develop other natural resources found in the state.

“Zamfara State has great deposits of natural resources. My economic plan is to closely cooperate with the state government to attract the right type of investment in mining. This investment will not exploit the people of Zamfara. Instead, it will open the door to safer mining, better jobs and increased economic growth for the state.”
APC National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle, who spoke at the rally, charged residents of the state to massively support Tinubu in view of his good plans for the state and Nigeria.

Before attending the rally, Tinubu had visited the Emir of Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, who conferred the title of Wakilin Raya Karkara (Ambassador for Rural Transformation) on him.

Tinubu was accompanied by Governor Atiku Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Senator Aliyu Wamakko from Sokoto State, former Zamfara State governors; Senator Sani Yerima, Alhaji Mahmuda Shinkafi and Senator Abdulaziz Yari, among other APC chieftains.

The rally was also attended by former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen Tukur Buratai (rtd), APC National Women Leader, Dr Betta Edu, Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Masari among others.

Shettima

Naja’atu Muhammad lies against Kashim Shettima

,

Naja’atu Muhammad, self-acclaimed human rights activist and politician is in the news again. As is usual with the fiery perpetual government and individuals’ critic, she is trending in dramatic circumstances. With a penchant for extreme views and indignant social criticism, she was described and rightly so, as a “professional character assassin” by a certain Muhammad Abubakar, sometime in 2019 in a rejoinder to her opinion piece “The Elephant in the Room: A Dent on its Trunk” where she gave a scathing account of the Nigeria Police Force and the leadership of the Police Service Commission (PSC). To puncture her self-righteous presentation of herself, to date she remains a member of the PSC she so vehemently excoriated!

A few days ago, she “resigned” from the ruling APC and from her high ranking position as a director in its Presidential Campaign Council. Since her resignation, she has visited the opposition presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar with photo ops and gone on a flurry of media interviews denigrating the APC, its presidential candidate and most recently its vice presidential candidate – Senator Kashim Shettima.

In a TV interview she gave Arise News she said and I quote: “Especially as it concerns security…..you cannot take someone that is virtually senile (in reference to Asiwaju) and another person that has been associated on several occasions with funding terrorism. That is Kashim Shettima.”

She further went on to say; “Kashim Shettima, we should not forget, Kabiru Sokoto was one of the most wanted terrorists and he was found and arrested in his house.”

Naja’atu was being dishonourable in twisting the circumstances of Kabiru Sokoto’s arrest by her mischievous rendition indicating that he was arrested in Kashim Shettima’s personal house.

Kabiru Sokoto was arrested in the Borno State Governor’s Lodge plotting the kidnap of Shettima’s children. Naja’atu very well knows the truth but chose the path of deceit. Hajia Naja an ji kunya Wallahi!

Naja’atu went on to further buttress her point on how terrorism and banditry is financed with the preposterous insinuation that Mr. Shettima is a terrorism financier.

Not to be taken lightly, Naja’atu Mohammed’s grievous accusation must be addressed and rejected in the strongest terms not only because she is lying but also because of the perpetuation of the stereotyping of northern Muslims as Boko Haram/terrorism sympathisers and the attendant hate crimes including mass murders that could follow.

These are some of the issues she herself has spoken against previously but has now turned around 360 degrees to propagate all in the name of politics. So much for a self touted defender of northern interests!

I advise Senator Shettima to seek legal redress against this grave character assassination. It may surprise the reader to know that Hajia Naja’atu was prior to this explosive interview a close friend of the Shettimas. According to sources close to the family, she had open access to the Shettima household, was a regular visitor and would often hawk her wares and the Shettimas; would continuously patronise her. Mrs Shettima treated Naja’atu with reverence just as she would treat her own maternal aunts. When in Maiduguri, Naja’atu was known to be accommodated in Kashim Shettima’s personal house and treated as a special guest. The pressing question is: what led to the sudden realisation by Naja’atu that her erstwhile friends and accommodators were terrorism supporters? As widely insinuated, was there a revelation aided by Atiku dollars?

As Naja’atu is so fond of making reference to Islam in her critical presentations in writing and on TV and radio, I rebuke her with the Mighty words of Almighty Allah when he spoke about the repercussions of character assassination thus: “Those who desire that indecencies should spread among the believers, will have a painful chastisement in this world and the hereafter. God knows and you do not know.” – Qur’an Chapter 24 verse 19. Respected American Islamic cleric, Shiekh Nouman Khan narrates a Hadith of Ibn Abbas where Abu Aljauza’a asked: “who are those people in whom Allah condemns with Wayl? (humiliation, punishment, doom) Ibn Abbas answered: “Those are the people who uncover secrets and disclose that which is not appropriate to be disclosed, those that cause divisions between those who love each other, and those who constantly describe people with flaws.” (Emphasis mine). Hajia Naja’atu may wish to learn that according to Islamic teachings, character assassination is a heinous crime.

Naja’atu’s penchant for quarrelsomeness and caustic criticism is rife – from President Buhari to Governors Kwankwaso, Shekarau and Ganduje (and many more; just ask Google!) and now Asiwaju and Shettima. As the saying goes “criticism is the power of the impotent.” At 67 years, the cantankerous Naja’atu Muhammad is nearing the twilight of her life – and it would serve her and her descendants better if she lives the rest of it with honour. She has every right to support Atiku Abubakar or whomsoever she wishes to support but she has no right to make such grievous and mischievous accusations against Senator Kashim Shettima.

Hajia Naja’atu, I leave you with the parable of the two wolves and I hope you take note of the lessons and free yourself of resentment, lies, anger and ego. An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life:

“A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.
“One is evil — he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego.
“The other is good — he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.
“This same fight is going on inside you — and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather,
“Which wolf will win?”
The old chief simply replied,
“The one you feed.”

Another plot to stop Tinubu fails

A Federal High Court (FHC), Abuja has dismissed a suit filed by a group seeking the disqualification of Sen. Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from the 2023 general elections.

Over 10 suits filed by elements sponsored by the opposition have been dismissed by the courts.

In the latest suit, Justice Binta Nyako, in a judgment, held that the plaintiff, the Incorporated Trustees of Kingdom Human Rights Foundation International, lacked the locus standi (legal right) to institute the case.

“The issue of locus standi of the applicant is a threshold issue because anything conduct without locus will be a nullity and it will be set aside,” she said.

Justice Nyako held that the plaintiff, having not been a political party nor a member of APC, had no legal right to file the action.

The judge, who also described the suit as “an abuse of court process,” condemned the plaintiff for filing multiple suits with similar reliefs.

She said that Justice Inyang Ekwo of a FHC had, on Dec. 15, 2022, delivered a judgment in a similar suit during which it was dismissed.

Nyako observed that the earlier suit before Ekwo and the instant suit had the same reliefs though the names of the parties were slightly different.

“Consequently , the case is hereby dismissed for being an abuse of court process,” she declared.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the group had sued the INEC chairman, the APC and Mr Tinubu as 1st to 3rd defendants respectively.

The group, in an originating motion on notice marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1960/22, sought an order of mandamus directing INEC to exercise its statutory power in accordance with Section 84(13) of the Electoral Act 2022 to immediately expunge Tinubu’s name from its final list of presidential candidates contesting the 2023 poll.

The group anchored its ground to the failure of the APC to comply with the mandatory provisions of Section 91(3) of Electoral Act 2022 which stipulates that a political party shall not receive any contribution of cash or kind exceeding N50 million without showing the source of the contribution to INEC, among others.

But Tinubu, through his counsel, Kamal Fagbemi, told Justice Nyako that the plaintiff was a meddlesome interloper who was neither a political party nor a candidate in the poll.

He said the plaintiff lacked locus standi to institute the case, which invariably challenged the political party’s decision and its internal affairs.

Tinubu, in a preliminary objection filed by his lead counsel, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, prayed the court to dismiss the suit for being incompetent.

Giving a 14-ground argument, the lawyer said the subject matter of the suit was a challenge of his client’s eligibility in contesting for the 2023 presidential election on the ground that the APC failed and/or neglected to identify the source of the N100 million which he paid for his expression of interest and nomination form.

He described the suit as non-justiciable.

APC lawyer, Ibrahim Audu, also spoke in the same vein.

Tinubu and Shettima

One million APC supporters expected at Tinubu’s rally in Zamfara today

,

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will today board his presidential campaign train to Gusau in Zamfara state, to end a hectic week of electioneering.

As usual, he will go with his vice-presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima.

No fewer than one million members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be mobilised to welcome Tinubu and Shettima, said the state APC Publicity Secretary, Mr Yusuf Idris.

“For the Saturday’s rally, over one million persons are expected to come from the 14 local government areas of the state.

“As you can see, the state capital, Gusau, is already agog and wearing a new look in preparation for our candidate’s visit on Saturday.

“Zamfara is for APC and APC is for Zamfara,” he said.

“The Zamfara branch of the APC Presidential Campaign Council has issued appointment letters to over 2,000 top party leaders drawn from all 14 local government areas of the state to promote the candidature of the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the state.

“The letters were issued to all the committee members, who were drawn from various interest groups and organisations by the coordinator of the PCC in Zamfara State, Senator Kabiru Marafa.

“The issuance of the letters was a prelude to Tinubu’s campaign rally in the state, scheduled for Saturday,° Idris said.

He noted that the 2,000 contact persons were carefully selected to take the message of Tinubu and APC to all the nooks and crannies of the state.

He assured them that the reward system of APC is guaranteed after the hopeful inauguration of Tinubu on May 29.

For the Tinubu campaign, the week started on Monday in Bauchi, where President Muhammadu Buhari presented Tinubu to the people of the state and notably called him, Mr President.

On Tuesday, the campaign moved to Umuahia in Abia state, where Tinubu promised to turn the state into an export hub of the country.

Ogun hosted the APC candidate on Wednesday. Tinubu seized the occasion to advert government’s mind to the twin crisis of fuel and new naira notes shortages.

On Thursday, Tinubu moved to Markurdi in Benue state, where the APC faithful gave him a colourful reception and Tiv cultural music.

From Markurdi, Tinubu also left for Daura in Katsina state, where he also met President Muhammadu Buhari, behind close doors.

It was believed they spoke on how the President could resolve the lingering scarcity of fuel and currency shortages.

The campaign took a break on Friday.

Oyetola

Oyetola’s victory triumph of perseverance, says Tinubu

PRESS RELEASE

Tinubu congratulates Oyetola, says victory is triumph of perseverance

All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has sent hearty congratulations and a goodwill message to the immediate-past governor of Osun State, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, on his victory at the Osun Election Petition Tribunal.

The three-man election tribunal chaired by Justice Tertsea Kume on Friday in Osogbo ruled that Oyetola is the duly elected governor of the state and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to issue Certificate of Return to Oyetola while declaring the result that produced Ademola Adeleke as Governor as null and void.

In a congratulatory message to Oyetola, Asiwaju Tinubu said the victory of Oyetola was deserving, describing it a “triumph of courage and perseverance, and light over the forces of darkness that sought to arrest the progressive good governance the APC administration delivered to the people of Osun State under the leadership of Oyetola.”

Asíwájú Tinubu said in the statement signed by his Media Aide, Mr. Tunde Rahman: “I heartily rejoice with Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola on his much deserved victory at the Election Tribunal today. It is the victory of light over darkness. A triumph of perseverance, courage and justice over electoral fraud and democratic perversion.

“The forces of darkness plotted to extinguish the able leadership and progressive good governance that improved the quality of life of our people under your leadership. But today, the Tribunal delivered justice and restored the mandate freely given to you and our great party.

“I am confident that the good work you championed that was momentarily paused will soon resume and Osun people will be happy again.
And together we can renew their hope of a shared prosperity.”
