PDP lied, no stone pelting of Buhari in Kano: Aso Rock Statement

,

PDP’S SAD CELEBRATION OF THE FALSE NEWS OF KANO STONE PELTING OF THE PRESIDENT

We have seen fake reports of a stone-pelting incident that took place in the Hotoro area of Kano on the day of the visit to the city by President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, an incident, even if minor, that should stand condemned by all well-meaning citizens.

Facts on ground as rendered by the law enforcement agencies speak of a clash between the local road transport authorities, the Kano Road Transport Authority, KAROTA and thugs hired by a yet-to-be identified group that took place when the President was being treated to a banquet at the Government House, well after he had finished his projects commissioning.

The President was in the state to work on the development, safety and security of the lives of common citizens and the happy thing about it was that the good people of Kano State were appreciative of him for the progress the state and the nation at large are making under him.

The divisive rhetoric of an opposition in a futile attempt to malign the image of the President and the candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the coming elections, and its desperate wedge-driving activities to cause a division between the party and the government is not what will give them victory.

A so-called leading opposition party that controls 14 states, going into elections with eight or nine of the states in tow should look inwards to see why their campaign is flagging and destined to fail. Their defeat is a foretold story by many discerning individuals.

The stone-pelters as seen from the video in the fight against the traffic police were innocent children sponsored by politicians and terrorist sympathizers. There is no place for violence in a democracy.

The PDP should use the opportunity of the electioneering to put their point of view in a democracy. When problems can be resolved through talks, there is no place for stone-pelting, arson and unruly behaviour as we are witnessing in some of the campaigns.

It is equally unhealthy for society and it becomes the duty of political, social and religious leaders to correctly inform the misled youngsters to shun the path of violence which is inimical to their own future.

Lastly is to say that the President has not lost his command and respect in Kano. For those who hold the border closure against him, they must come to realise that the 60-70 integrated rice mills in the city today would not have been in place if he had allowed the free-for-all smuggling to continue.

APC debunks PDP’s falsehood on Buhari’s attack: Statement

,

RE-ATTACK ON PRESIDENT BUHARI IN KANO

We were not surprised to read of the imaginary attack on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria being peddled by the Peoples Democratic Party since the party has nothing tangible to tell Nigerians from its crumbling Presidential Campaign.

This invented attack on President Muhammadu Buhari must have happened only in the fertile imagination of PDP National Publicity Secretary, one Debo Ologunagba.

Nigerians should disregard this fake news from a party that has lost touch with reality and suffering the agony of violating its own rules on power rotation.

Just as it has been masterminding fake news against the APC presidential candidate and trying vainly to cause disharmony in the APC family, we believe the party may have planned to embarrass President Buhari in Kano and then put the blame on host Governor Ganduje and Tinubu.

This is because PDP has of recent morphed from being a Buhari virulent critic to strangely becoming a Buhari spokesperson! The last time it issued a self-serving misinterpretation of Asíwájú’s statement in Abeokuta as an attack on President Buhari.

It should be quite obvious to Nigerians that the knowledge of impending defeat of PDP at the coming presidential poll has pushed the party and its candidate into frenzied hallucinatory mode of mindless, ridiculous, ludicrous litany of lies and fabrications against APC and its candidate.

The PDP is a drowning party feverishly clawing at any straw of lies and lashing out in all delusional directions to keep afloat – but sink it will.

We believe Nigerians are not taken in by the jejune antics.

The PDP now runs the most unethical, pernicious and inelegant, abusive, obtrusive and nationally divisive campaign in the history of electioneering in Nigeria.

The other day it was the PDP candidate Atiku who, out of frustration, stated publicly that the north must not vote anybody outside the region. It’s the same trend that characterizes the PDP campaign ever since.

That surely is a sign of defeat and readiness to sacrifice the unity of this country on the alter of unbridled inordinate ambition.

Nigerians are wiser and would never allow PDP centrifugal forces to take our nation down with it . All men and women of good conscience should rise up and use their votes to send PDP and its band of desperados to the dustbin of history where they rightfully belong.

Contrary to PDP fabrication, President Buhari was warmly received in Kano State today by the good people and government of the state where he commissioned eight hugely impactful projects including overhead bridge with underpass and a cancer centre.

On Sunday, we alerted the nation to the plot by PDP to orchestrate and execute many evil plans to defame, ridicule and delegitimise President Muhammadu Buhari and our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Nigerians of goodwill would have seen by now that we didn’t raise false alarm in our statement issued on 29 January , 2023 where we detailed the evil machinations of PDP and their hirelings.

Only the evil mind of PDP could conceive an attack on a President of Nigeria.

It is not impossible that PDP through its paid agents would organise miscreants to stage-manage an attack. But we are sure the security agencies are capable of foiling any planned attack on the President and anyone who is caught in such unholy plot now or in the future will have himself or herself to blame.

We call on the security agencies especially the Police and Department of State Services to immediately arrest PDP National Publicity Secretary for interrogation over this imaginary attack.

In Kano Tinubu assures Muslim leaders of fair, just leadership

,

PRESS RELEASE

All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Muslim leaders in the country that he will offer fair and just leadership to all Nigerians if elected president.

Tinubu gave the assurance in a town hall meeting with Muslim leaders from the North West geopolitical zone in Kano on Tuesday.

The APC candidate urged the religious leaders to ensure that they preach unity and harmony among their followers rather than division and disunity, saying that is the only way the nation could experience development.

He said: “Religious leaders like you are agents of harmony and hope, not division and disunity. All well-meaning Nigerians, regardless of political affiliation, must join hands against violence, hunger, ignorance and bigotry.

“We all must live together. No one has the right to try to lord over the other. Allah stands against such injustice. And where Allah stands, all bad things must fall. Mean-spirited politicians – those thinking only of themselves or those who think they mean more than the nation itself – will go to great lengths to deceive or recruit eminent persons to unknowingly preach division and hatred.

“They cannot win with the truth. So, they will try to win with a lie. But a lie never wins in the end. Those they cannot beat with honesty, they seek to beat them with untruth and falsity. They want to turn servants of God into preachers of division and hateful sentiment.”

Speaking further, Tinubu told the Muslim leaders that he had demonstrated a sense of unity and oneness in all his campaigns and would continue to do so.

Tinubu pledged to conduct himself in public office on the values and ideals of fairness and justice, adding that he would always speak about facts and truths, policies and programs.

On expectations from him if elected president, he reminded the faith leaders of his record as Lagos State governor.

Tinubu said: “I promise to be a fair and just leader. This pledge is based on the Islamic teachings on leadership. A leader in a plural society is enjoined to be a leader for all. If elected, I shall govern in harmony with our nation’s democratic Constitution.

“More than that. I shall tackle this nation’s problems with a commitment to solving them. I say this not as a boast. I say it based on my record. As Lagos governor, I assembled perhaps the most diverse team by any state government. That team was based on competence, not tribal this or regional that. It was not based on the attire one wore or the accent one spoke with, but on the quality of one’s ideas and contributions to society.

“If given the chance by Almighty Allah, I will operate in the same spirit of inclusiveness and innovation in order to renew the hope of our people. My highest priorities shall be the protection of our land and prosperity of its people.”

He further dwelt on his plans for the economy, promising to make security, making the economy one of widely shared prosperity and agriculture the three pillars of his government.

“Regarding security, my policy is not an artificial created to sound good for this campaign. My security policy is based on dedicated study and long conversations with experts in this field. This is the same approach I used to tackle the bad security situation that faced me when I became governor of Lagos. I created programs and institutions to solve the real and dangerous challenges Lagos faced,” he said.

“We shall increase security personnel and better equip them. Advanced air and ground surveillance technology will identify, track and attack the criminals until they are utterly defeated. As we fight terror and crime, we shall also attack poverty, hunger and the despair they cause, ” he added.

On the economy, he said:
“My plan is to turn this economy into a more robust and broad economy where those who want work can find a good job. We will revive the manufacturing and textile sectors in Kano and elsewhere by reforming tax and import policies to create jobs for our people. These policies will also produce the goods and services that improve the daily lives of the average person.

“We all should find it unacceptable that Kano is no longer the manufacturing hub it once was. My policies will do more than revive it. It will expand it beyond what it once was to make it what it should be.

“As I said during the commissioning of the Kolmani oil wells, we will invest in that project and indeed all vital infrastructural projects such as the Mambilla Power Project, the AKK gas pipeline projects.

“We shall revive our inland waterways through the dredging of the River Niger and make sure we cut down on our steel import bill by making the Ajaokuta Steel Company work.”

“Regarding agriculture, we will increase food security through enhanced productivity and improved farm incomes. Farming will be adequately returned to its prominent position. To strengthen our social fabric and guarantee the future, massive investment in education will ensure that we nourish and guide our youth toward better lives.”

The APC standard-bearer also promised to provide a lasting solution to the almajiri challenge by appointing a special commission to work towards that. This he said is expedient because “every child has the right to an education. It is a social wrong to see them roam the streets or drop out due to poverty.”

Jigawa and Kano state governors Muhammad Badaru Abubakar and Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, respectively, described Asiwaju Tinubu as a visionary person who is trustworthy.

Badaru also stated that Tinubu is physically and mentally healthy, contrary to mischievous insinuations.

“People spread fake news about his health status. We that are with him know that he is very healthy. Aside bodily health, he has very high mental alertness,” he said.

The Jigawa governor recounted how he joined Tinubu on a recent trip to London and Saudi Arabia where they had the stressful lesser hajj ritual and came back to Nigeria without having any rest.

He said Asiwaju “has deep respect for our people and we have found in him a dependable friend who will not shame us, by the grace of God”.

Ganduje said religious leaders have a role to play in choosing political leadership in the light of their role as guardians of the society.

“As people who are after the wellbeing of the society, you have every reason to be interested in who leads the people to greater prosperity,” he said.

He added that Tinubu had over the years demonstrated that he is a fair leader who is not driven by ethnic sentiments.

Some Muslim leaders who spoke at the occasion including Ustaz Aminu Aliyu Gusau, Sheikh Dr Khalid Aliyu Abubakar, Malam Tijani Imam Kano, among others declared support for Tinubu.

Photos from Tinubu’s three-day visit to Kano

APC flag bearer Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, along with his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, was in Kano for three days, from Saturday 22 October till Monday 24 October.

Tinubu’s personal photographer, Nosa, gives some glimpses into the high points of the visit. The opposition PDP claimed that the streets of Kano were deserted during the visit, but the photos proved otherwise.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje was a good host and really showed that he is a formidable political force in the state, ready to help Asiwaju and Shettima to the Presidential Villa.

Kano visit: Asiwaju Tinubu and PDP industry of lies

, ,

By Kassim Afegbua

I woke up yesterday feeling a little bit low in spirit and psyche. The night before I had watched several reports of the floods and ecological mayhem that had attended 34 states of Nigeria. I also read the reactions to the attack on Apostle Suleiman in which seven people lost their precious lives. I saw an Apostle saying he knows those after him, but he won’t reveal their identities; but he was flummoxed by the killing of one of his assailants who was caught. If you know those after you, do you need any evidence from the one apprehended and was later shot? Too many stories travelling across the stratosphere each one bearing a life of its own in a country that has become heavily polarised. As I was about putting my phone down, a story popped up from a familiar number, talking about the APC candidate and his visit to Kano state. The Lady has become one of those social media itchy fingers, who will just ram stories down your throat without cross-checking her information. I have had cause to correct her fake news several times.

This time, she simply wrote; “APC MEMBERS, WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM IN KANO WITH TINUBU?”

Hope all is well?

Uncertainty in Kano Government House, as Bola Tinubu boycott Gala night organised for him yesterday night, (sic).

Also this morning his scheduled visit to Kano Emir’s palace was cancelled, while press has been asked to leave the area Tinubu stays, (sic).

I would not have bothered to respond to some of these nebulous vomits from professional fake news carriers, but for the fact that it was coming from the PDP baking House. This response is now necessary. It is obvious that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has become the real issue in the 2023 political campaigns discourse. Aside from being a formidable candidate, his stature as a political player over the years has placed him as the man to beat in the 2023 general elections. Tinubu’s breadth of experience in both public and private life coupled with his understanding of the intricate logic of the Nigerian federation, having been an activist of note, has aided him to acquire uncommon skills in contending with developmental challenges in the polity. The era of social media and their e-rats components would naturally throw up discourse that are completely baseless; but which cannot be ignored. Now, having promoted a fake news item, and circulating it all over WhatsApp, I had to correct her, and debunk her claim. I sent her a picture of Asiwaju Tinubu addressing a cross section of different ethnic and socio-cultural groups in a hall in Kano. I also reminded her that the great Emir of Kano, was away to Morocco, so there was no way Asiwaju could have visited the Palace. Rather than apologise for her misleading content earlier, she posed another question; what of the Gala Nite? I felt undone. Of course, Asiwaju had been in Kano for two days consulting with several stakeholders all night long. His capacity for dialogue and constructive engagement is what distinguishes him amongst others!!

Asiwaju has not just become a victim of the flourishing industry of lies of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, he has continued to grow in strength and depth despite all the bile thrown at him. When he travelled to London a couple of weeks back to get some rest, and gather steam before the real campaign begun, all manner of stories were baked from PDP’s ovum of lies. A man who did not visit any hospital in London was accused of being an in-patient in a nameless hospital. Some were even conscripting post codes that were neither here nor there. When he returned to the country looking his urbane self, the story took a different dimension. Since his arrival, he has been upbeat, unveiling his action plans for renewed hope, and telling the public what he intends to do when he wins the elections to lead the country. His action plan for renewed hope captures short term, middle and long term solutions to our nagging problems as a nation in these troubled times. He did not only unveil the nuances of a new thinking in our way of life, he proffers solutions that would be put to test in combating our challenges. Tinubu is not new to testing his strong political will. He understands the appurtenances of the struggle and knows how to stay close to the ovum to bake ideas under tremendous pressure. He did it in Lagos; he did it in Mobil. He did it on the streets during protests, agitations and freedom walks. He understands the feelings of the public. He knows quite well that his party, the APC has not completely impressed us, and he plans to take us out of this present position, to a better and prosperous future. Every time they strike Tinubu with their bullets of lies, the man comes out stronger.

The opposition PDP has been spewing lies about Tinubu’s health as if the party has acquired the appellation of his personal physician to determine the wellness of his person.; (and please look and see clearly the sick man they are fielding in Atiku). Each time they tried to drag Asiwaju Tinubu down, he comes our stronger and showing uncommon zeal, energy, grit, charisma and resilience. He had declared in Kano that all he needed to contend with leadership responsibility is a strong mental attitude that is able to process situations and act accordingly to provide solutions. He is neither a wrestler nor a boxer or grave digger. But partisan analyst in Arise TV, Dr. Reuben Abati, who was guber running mate to late Senator Kashamu, the alleged drug baron under the PDP would require that presidential candidates face the rigours of wrestling and boxing to test their wellness and fitness. A President’s mental attitude is the most that matters. Added to this is his capacity and ability to dissect issues, synchronise and process them, before taking informed decisions for the overall good of the country. A President’s political will is also an integral part of his leadership attributes that would help him take decisions without let or hindrance, in pursuance of the common good no matter whose ox is gored. Asiwaju Tinubu does not only possess the grit, stamina, gusto and ability to understand situations, he also has experience and wits having been part of the struggle to birth a country with flourishing opportunities. Instead of the PDP to keep promoting bile from their industry of lies, it would profit them more if they were able to unify their platform to reconcile all the divergent views and interplay of forces for the good of a virile opposition role that would help deepen our democracy. While they devote abundant time and attention on running down Asiwaju Tinubu, the APC candidate is soaring even higher and higher; like an eagle, breaking new grounds, absorbing new converts, and penetrating certain strongholds. A man who wants to govern this country must be someone who is at home with all shades of opinions, viewpoints and persuasions.

When Peter Obi donated twenty four loaves of bread to flood victims and a paltry N5m as palliative measures, the social media space was set agog. But in Kano state, Asiwaju Tinubu displayed his cutting edge style in confronting ecological challenges. In one fell swoop, he donated N100m for flood victims of Kano state. I am sure, given his style and nature, he would also extend a similar hand of fellowship to other states when he visits them. While Asiwaju Tinubu was in Kano, Atiku Abubakar, was in Edo State for his campaign stop. Edo State PDP is a metaphor for our collective sufferance amid the ugly realities that stare us in the face in the state; a state that is sharply divided politically has been idling away in the hands of The Governor, who prefers to be called a leader than be called a governor. At the rally at Ogbemudia stadium, PDP was a shadow of itself as all the Local Government Chairmen were absent, the Wards chairmen were all absent while 99% percent of the State Working Committee also abstained from the said rally. In order to cover its culture of shame, following the derisive statement by the great Oba of Benin to the Governor, the PDP needed to farm out lies from its industry to divert attention. Oba of Benin, had thanked the PDP candidate for bringing his Governor to him, even though they both live in the same neighborhood . “Na your face be this” as commonly said in local parlance, is to drive the narrative home that all has not been well between Government of Edo State and the Oba of Benin. While PDP has so much on its hands to contend with, it would be better if it desists from employing  a wealth of resources on lies; it behoves the party to live above board in confronting its own campaign challenges than spending its energy and resources to manufacture lies against Tinubu, their common nemesis.

Whenever Tinubu speaks, PDP liars would say he’s incoherent. Whenever he speaks in parable, they will digress from the content for lack of understanding. Whenever he puts an idea forward, they will say oh, he plagiarised it. But all these further distinguish Tinubu from the pack. When he spoke in Kaduna, the people were spellbound . He did not only show a deeper understanding of the issues, he was in a world of his own in setting the agenda for renewed hope across the country. You may hate him in the usual Nigerian way without any discernible reason, but you cannot take away the fact that the man’s intellect is rich and fecund, and his delivery? Very cerebral! Aside from being a political strategist with an uncanny ability to dissect political puzzles, Asiwaju Tinubu knows how to navigate Nigeria’s murky political waters. He has his hands on the issues. He has not only built a network of friends across the socio-political divides, he understands the expectations of the different geopolitical zones and is ready and can meet them. His energy is remarkable. I have had cause to appeal to him to retire for the day when at 3a.m, he was still trying to keep an appointment with a group of persons. A man who has a listening ear and loves to consult is a better political player than those who display a sense of “ know it all”. Asiwaju Tinubu may not be your everyday politician, he sure has a better grasp of the issues of leadership and apparently more prepared to lead from the front, than others who have taken Dubai as a second home. In 2023, we need a president like Asiwaju Tinubu who will devote the better part of his time and other resources in leading us back home, here; not Atiku Abubakar who may be dishing out instructions to us his perceived subjects from far away Dubai.

Tinubu in Kano: I will give Nigerians 100% of my time, not 50% in Dubai, 50% in Nigeria

,

All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asíwájú Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Sunday in Kano declared that he would devote 100% of his time and energy in the service of Nigeria and the people.

Tinubu, at an interactive session with members of the popular Tijjaniyyah sect Sunday afternoon in Kano, said he won’t be a part-time President who will share his time between living in Dubai and Nigeria, adding that he would concentrate his attention and energy on confronting and surmounting Nigeria’s pressing challenges.

In attendance at the session held inside the African Hall of Kano Government House were his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, and at least six governors of the party.

Governors at the session included Chairman Progressives Governors’ Forum & Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu, Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Bello Matawalle (Zamfara), Babajide Sanwo-olu (Lagos), former APC Interim Chairman Chief Bisi Akande and some of the party’s National Working Committee members.

At the meeting, members of the Tijjaniyyah sect led by their leader, Sheikh Bashir Tijjani Usman Zangon Bareebah, presented a long list of issues the sect wants the APC Presidential candidate to address when he gets to office.

Top on the list are improved electricity, full security, giving agriculture full attention including provision and completion of dams and improved quality education for Nigerians.

While giving their full endorsement and support to the APC presidential ambition, the sect demanded that the Tinubu presidency should ensure inclusion of their members in cabinet and other government appointments, reduction in Hajj fares and assistance in concluding Tijjaniyyah University under construction in Kano.

In his response, Tinubu said the answers to some of the demands were contained in his manifesto unfolded to the whole world on Friday by President Muhammadu Buhari, stressing that he is running to be the president because of his commitment to better the lives of all Nigerians.

In a similar development, the APC Presidential candidate met with business leaders from Northern Nigeria Saturday night in Kano where he assured the business community of a better business environment through implementation of well thought-out policies that will revive dead and ailing manufacturing companies in Kano and across the country.

At a forum to share insights with the Northern business community, business leaders and captains of industry from across the North openly endorsed the APC presidential candidate and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.

At a forum attended by the APC National Chairman, Senator Adamu Abdullahi, Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Shettima, Governor Ganduje of Kano and seven other governors, the business leaders said with his private sector background, Asíwájú Tinubu would drive the nation’s economy well.

Governor Ganduje said Kano and Lagos have always maintained a long standing relationship which will be strengthened under Tinubu whom he labelled a Kano man.

Ganduje said as governor of Lagos State, Asíwájú ran a pan-Nigeria cabinet that grew the state in all indices of governance and economy.

While assuring the northern business leaders of better business environment with well-thought-out policies that will revitalise industries and open up new opportunities, Tinubu identified the link between Kano as a centre of commerce and his economic plan for Nigeria.

He said: “There is a strong nexus between the place of Kano as a centre of prosperity and my plan for Nigeria. What I pledge is a revamped economy which will renew the hope of our people. Our country needs multiple centres of prosperity, and we intend to achieve that by adding value across all sectors of our economy.

“As I said during my speech at the Arewa House on Monday, Nigeria is sitting on a goldmine. There is no state in Nigeria that is lacking in one resources or the other. We are determined to explore and exploit these resources to the maximum benefits of our people. Kano, for example, has huge agricultural potentials and important mineral resources underneath its ground like gold, silver, nickel, tin ore and columbite. Each of these, if properly harnessed, can add significantly to our economy as a country.

The APC flagbearer added that Kano’s arable land and its comparative advantage in agriculture will be further expanded to make the state and northern region industrial hubs in sub-Saharan Africa.

“The state’s vast arable land and other agricultural potentials, if added to its population will make Kano a force to reckon with in sub-saharan African agro-market. Those who listen to my speech in Kaduna would have heard about my plan for agriculture. Aside working with the private sector to make input available that would guarantee greater yield, among other incentives, we will ensure all categories of farmers have easy access to finance through appropriate government and private sector initiatives. We have seen the wonders from the CBN’s Anchor Borrowers Programme, and the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative. We will consolidate on those gains. Kano’s famous dams such Tiga, Chalawa Gorge, Thomas, Kusalla, etc that are not being maximally tapped will get special attention from my government. We will invest in the expansion of irrigation land, channelization of the water, among other initiatives that will ensure we cultivate these lands all year round.

“We will not stop in investing and boosting our agricultural potentials, we will add value throughout the value chain.

Through Commodity Exchange markets, we will link markets like Dawanau in Kano and Gujungu in Jigawa with international markets and boost return on investment for our farmers. The overall aim is to move the nation from import oriented to export oriented economy where grains from Kano will be exported to world market rather than us buying from other countries.

“I know of the commercial exploits of some of you, traders and businessmen in Kwari Textile Market, Sabongari Market, Singer Market and the famous grain market in Dawanau which transacts with the rest of West Africa. These commercial activities alone can provide the state with enough IGR to maintain itself with the right support and policies.

Beyond trading and commerce, I have a special interest in addressing the problem of the dead or comatose Kano industrial estates in Sharada, Bompai, Panshekara, Jogana, etc, which were vibrant in 70s and 80s. We understand the reason why those companies collapsed and we have a plan to revive them and make them competitive.

“We will provide incentives for industrial development nationwide through institutions like the Bank of Industry. There will be a deliberate policy to create industrial hubs and free zones specific to every region. For Kano, we will give attention to agro-allied industries such as textiles, tomato paste, rice processing, animal feeds, etc, in line with the state’s competitive advantages.”

Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a man of many traditional honours across the country, from north to south, west to east. The array of titles he has garnered was only comparable to that of Chief Moshood Abiola, winner of the 1993 Presidential election.
