Oyetola inaugurates Tinubu/Shettima PCC in Osun

,

The former Governor of Osun, Chief Gboyega Oyetola, on Thursday inaugurated the Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in Osogbo.

Inaugurating members of the council, Oyetola said no stone would be left unturned in ensuring the victory of the APC presidential and vice-presidential candidates, Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, in the forthcoming general elections.

The former governor, who is the State Coordinator of the PCC, instructed members to also work at ensuring victory for all APC state candidates vying for national and state assembly positions.

“The country is in dire need of a competent individual like Tinubu to build on the gains of the incumbent administration and drive the nation’s potential for socioeconomic growth and development of the country.

“There is no room for experiment on the choice of the next president at this critical time in the history of Nigeria, hence the need to elect Tinubu whose political pedigree, good, responsible and responsive governance antecedents are second to none.” he said

Oyetola described the Tinubu/Shettima candidature as divine, adding it was worthy of note that “the team is powered by tested and trusted hands as it offers a renewed hope for all”.

According to him, our the APC presidential candidate is not only a problem solver, but also a genius, roadmap designer and one who, out of little or nothing, turned around the socioeconomic fortunes of Lagos State.

He commended loyalists of APC in the state for their support in the face of daunting challenges.

The former governor commended them for continually remaining resolute, especially after the July 16, 2022 governorship election in the state.

Earlier, the acting State APC Chairman, Mr Tajudeen Lawal, urged the party’s loyalists to begin door-to-door campaign and mobilisation of people, to ensure victory for the party.

Lawal described the choice of Tinubu as a round peg in a round hole, adding that the time had come for all lovers of good governance to get him elected.

On his part, Mr Timothy Owoeye, Speaker of Osun House of Assembly, expressed confidence that Oyetola would be victorious at the election petitions tribunal and returned as Osun governor.

He said that he was also confident that Tinubu would be elected president.

Owoeye described the outcome of the July 16, 2022 Osun governorship as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission as a temporary setback.

He said God would return Oyetola to govern the state for a second term before July this year.

The speaker urged party loyalists to embark on unit-based campaigns across the state.

He said that no effort must be spared to ensure victory for all the party’s candidates in the general elections.

I will retrain Yahoo Boys to become tech experts – Tinubu

,

All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has promised to retrain internet fraudsters, otherwise known as Yahoo Boys, to become tech experts.

He made the promise on Thursday in Benin at the party’s presidential campaign that held in the University of Benin (UNIBEN) sports complex.

According to the presidential hopeful, his coming into the presidential race is the coming of happiness, prosperity to the country.

“We will create jobs, we will turn this state to energy state, we will turn the so-called Yahoo Boys to experts in manufacturing of chips.

“If you want prosperity, elect me, you want skill to become rich, elect me. If you say go and retire now, you retire knowledge diamond and skill.

“We can defeat poverty, we can break the shackle of poverty, shackle of ignorance, shackle of homelessness. We will do it together.

“We have the knowledge, we have the brain, trust me. I am an expert in finding the way where there is no way. That is the power of thinking and doing.

To those who demand that he retire from politics, Asiwaju said, “If you say go retire now, you retire knowledge, diamond, gold and minerals.”

Commenting on the endorsement of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Bola Tinubu said “one who does not know the road cannot show the road”, describing such endorsement as poisonous for the country.

Tinubu who disclosed that he would demand for reparation of collected revenue from stolen artifacts, promised to provide fund for the proposed royal museum in Benin, if elected president.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the party, Davis Imuse, said the state is prepared to ensure Asiwaju’s victory at the poll, come 2023.

Also speaking former national chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole, noted that Asiwaju has done so much to promote multi party democracy in Nigeria, noting that he (Asiwaju) believes in the unity of the country.

In his remark, Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, described Edo people as very committed, even as he added that the 19 northern states committed to elect BAT. We are committed for that ticket.

Tinubu: Obasanjo unfit to recommend president for Nigerians

,

PRESS RELEASE

In Edo, Tinubu says Obasanjo unfit to recommend president for Nigerians

…urges Europeans to pay reparation on returned Benin artefacts

…promises massive economic development

All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu , said former President Olusegun Obasanjo is not qualified to recommend or endorse anyone as President of Nigeria because of his failures.

While speaking on Thursday at the APC Presidential Campaign rally held at the University of Benin Sports Complex, Ugbowo Campus, Benin, the APC flagbearer said Obasanjo failed to develop the country when he had the opportunity, but rather was fighting his then Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, while accusing each other of spending the country’s money for their personal comfort.

Tinubu noted that after spending $16billion on electricity, Obasanjo and the PDP government could not deliver electricity for Nigerians to make even popcorn.

As Governor of Lagos, Tinubu recalled how he brought Enron Power to generate electricity and solve the power problem in the commercial nerve centre of the country but the project was frustrated by the Obasanjo-led PDP government.

“I brought Enron to solve electricity problem and help Lagos economy but Obasanjo and PDP frustrated it. They punished me and Lagos people and even began deducting our money. I created Local Governments in Lagos to accelerate development and create employment for our people but Obasanjo siezed our allocation and punished us for that. That was wickedness and such a man said he endorsed a man for you to vote as President. Can you follow such a man? Can Obasanjo recommend a leader for anyone in Nigeria? A man who does not know the way cannot show the way.”

On his main opponent, Atiku Abubakar, the former Governor of Lagos said the PDP presidential candidate is not qualified to be President of Nigeria having indicted himself on his record as a civil servant.

“Atiku and Obasanjo accused themselves of using Nigeria’s money to buy cars for their comfort. Atiku was a custom officer who said he made money selling cars, that is smugling. He didn’t even know that a civil servant can not do any other business apart from agriculture. That is enough to disqualify him and he is not fit to be President.”

On his plan for the economy and Edo people, Tinubu said it is time to eliminate darkness and make the economy of the country productive through massive industrialisation, promising to make Edo State a hub of industrial activities and an energy state.

At the very electrifying rally, Tinubu told the people that prosperity and happiness have come. He applauded the return of Benin artefacts by some Western nations but urged the countries to pay some money to Edo State having made huge money from the returned artefacts through tourism and exhibitions.

“Edo people, prosperity has come, happiness has come, hope is back in your homes, knowledge is back in your community. I am happy about the returned artefacts. They are bringing our artefacts. I support the Oba of Benin who said our heritage must come back but I disagree with the Europeans. They have used our artefacts for exhibitions and tourism for decades in their museums to make money. They should not just send them back without money. When I become President I will ask them to pay us restitution. I will contribute to the building of the museum in Benin.”

On his competence and readiness for the job, Tinubu told the mammoth crowd that his administration would focus on job creation through small scale industries, build a credible credit system for capital formation, bring multibillion dollar investments to Edo State and end estimated electricity billing.

“I will turn Edo State to energy State. I will convert Yahoo boys and make them useful by converting their talents and intellects to produce chips for industries. We can defeat poverty, ignorance and homelessness. We have the knowledge, we have the brain to do it. Trust me. I am an expert in finding the way where there is no way. I found a way to tame the Atlantic and turn it to money- making machine.”

Tinubu also spoke on his motivation to make life better for the poor and why opportunities must be created for young people to move up on socio-economic ladder.

“I believe the children of boli and groundnut sellers should become doctors, engineers, nurses etc. That was why I started the payment of WAEC fees for their children as governor in Lagos. If you want to become rich, elect me. If you say I should go and retire, it means you want to retire diamond and gold. Edo people, I am telling you like I say everywhere in Nigeria, elect me.”

In his address at the rally, former governor of Edo State and Deputy Director- General of the Tinubu-Shettima Campaign, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, said come February 25, Edo people would use their PVC to appreciate Tinubu as a father of multi-party democracy in Nigeria.

“If you want to understand why Obasanjo failed to turn Nigeria into a one-party state, it was the resistance of Asíwájú and others.

“Obasanjo also wanted to take over Lagos. Asíwájú said you can’t do it. If you are a military general, I am a general of politics. He fought him to a standstill,” Oshiomhole said.

He charged the mammoth crowd at the rally to mobilize their relatives and friends back home to vote for the APC candidate.

Oshiomhole also threw jibes at Presidential candidates of Labour Party, Peter Obi, and that of PDP, Atiku Abubakar, asking Edo people to reject them.

“Peter Obi is a joke,” he said, adding that Obi could not address the erosion problem in his state of Anambra.

Oshiomhole said Atiku cannot unite this country. “Someone who cannot unite his house, how can he unite Nigeria?”

Edo State APC Chairman, Col David Imuse (rtd), said Edo had always been with Asiwaju Tinubu and would always be there for him to ensure victory in the February 25 election.

“There is no political party that has a candidate that is as qualified as our candidate, in terms of experience, in terms of pedigree and performance.”

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, APC National Woman Leader Beta Edu, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio; Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba, former Chief of Defence Staff, General Olanisakin, Senator Andy Uba, among others, attended the rally.

Shettima meets the Emir of Gaya as Tinubu campaigns in Edo

Tinubu in Edo, Shettima continues APC campaign in Kano

The Vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Kashim Shettima has stayed behind in Kano to continue the campaign.

This was a day after the party’s highly successful mega rally in Kano, which was attended by the Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Many northern state governors also attended the rally.

Today, Shettima, along with the governorship candidate, Dr. Nasir Yusuf Gawuna and Deputy National Chairman of the APC (North) Senator Abubakar Kyari paid homage to Emir of Gaya, Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya.

Shettima’s visit to Gaya comes as Tinubu also mounted the podium in Benin, capital of Edo state.

Shettima also visited Rano, where he paid homage to the emir, as well.

In both palaces, the delegation was treated to another round of mass turn out as thousands of people quickly gathered to welcome the visitors.

At the Palace to receive the team in Rano, was the Emir, Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa Autan Bawo III.

In Gaya also, the Emir, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaya was at hand to receive the delegation.

In both Palaces, Senator Kashim Shettima paid tribute to the historical antecedents and relevance of the two emirates and linked the roles they have played in the evolution of a nation anchored on justice and fairness to why they are still relied upon to impact on the journey at hand.

He told the emirs and the very large gathering of people that Nigeria has a date with not just history, but with a golden opportunity to remake and reposition itself.

Niger Delta ex-militants pledge support for Tinubu-Shettima

, ,

A group of ex-Niger Delta militants has pledged support for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.

In an advertorial published Wednesday by Vanguard, the group known as the Niger Delta Ex-militant Generals (NANDEG), also endorsed the Delta state APC governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

It said its decision was borne out of its desire to ‘foster genuine regional change, growth and accelerated development of the Niger Delta region.

“The aforementioned are our choices and we shall roll out our supportive arsenals at ensuring landslide victory for our candidates led by Asiwaju Tinubu”, said the group in the statement signed Joseph Figbele, the national coordinator and Abraham Ekokotu, the national secretary.

Justifying its support for Tinubu, the group said Tinubu has shown “over the years enough capacity, character, track record, resilience, statesmanship, sagacity, patience and love for the Nigerian state being a Pan-African/Nigerian nationalist with bias for massive development of human and material resources”.

“Asiwaju and his team having birthed democracy in the world’s most populated black nation, qualifies him as the beacon of our hope in Nigeria”, the group said.

PDP campaign collapses

, , ,

The recent endorsement of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, by former president Olusegun Obasanjo and Edwin Clark has cleared the path for APC victory in the forthcoming elections.

Festus Keyamo (SAN) and spokesman of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential campaign said that the various endorsements only spell doom for the People’s Democratic party as the various components that gave the party second position votes in the 2019 elections are pulling out.

Keyamo, who is also the Minister of State for Labour and Employment gave these projections on Tuesday when he appeared on Channels Tv Politics Today.

He said, “I think we can say confidently today that the PDP campaign has collapsed. The PDP as a party has also collapsed. The various components of the party in 2019 are the ones pulling out of that coalition. Nothing has affected APC.

“If you look at 2019, every single component of that coalition they formed both inside and outside the party against the APC has virtually collapsed. The PANDEF endorsed Atiku 2019, Edwin Clark is a member of the PANDEF, Ohaneze, Afenifere and Middle belt forum also endorsed Atiku in 2019.

“What is going on now is that the PDP has been turned into shreds, internally by the G5 and we hear that there is a G1 governor and also the sympathizers of the party in 2019, the party has imploded from within.”

The spokesperson who is currently on vacation in the United States added that the endorsement of Peter Obi is a piece of exciting news for the ruling party.

“The various factors we have now that have upset the political terrain are Peter obi and Kwankwaso. They were the components of the PDP in 2019. Those are the two factors that have upset the political terrain.

“We can confidently say the wheels of PDP have fallen off internally. I don’t take the view of what some of my colleagues are doing by condemning Obasanjo. I am excited by the endorsement of Obasanjo against Atiku and Peter Obi.

“The endorsement of Obasanjo is not against APC but against Atiku because he supported him in 2019. If you heard what Nyesom Wike said it is a tragedy that your former boss who should give you a pass mark has decided to endorse somebody else. In other words, Obasanjo endorsing Atiku in 2019 was because of Peter Obi.

“Right now, Obasanjo has followed Peter Obi out of PDP to the Labour Party, same for Edwin Clark. What is this effect on APC is that it made the path to our victory clearer? It is now obvious to us that we are coasting to victory,” he concluded.

APC supporters welcome Gov. Inuwa Yahaya to Nafada

Tinubu will get northern votes like Abiola in 1993 – Gombe Campaign DG

, ,

Director-General of the Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State re-election, Mr Zubair Umar, said that the northern electorate would vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu as it did for Moshood Abiola in 1993.

Umar said this on Wednesday when Yahaya paid homage to Alhaji Muhammadu Hamza, the Emir of Nafada, in Nafada Local Government Area of the state.

He said that over the years the north had shown commitment to the unity of the country by voting candidates of southern extraction to win elections through the ballot.

According to him, the electorate in the north believes in justice and equity just as APC, hence supporting a shift of the presidency to the south will eventually lead to the democratic emergence of Tinubu.

Umar said he was confident that the way the north unanimously voted for Abiola in the 1993 and Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999, would be replicated for Tinubu in the 2023 general election.

According to him, the electorate in the north will vote for Tinubu in the spirit of justice and equity.

“Tinubu has protected all Nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion and ethnicity by carrying everyone along when he was governor of Lagos State.

“He is not a tribalistic or ethno-religious kind of person but a leader that prioritises competence and capacity.

“This is the reason he appointed different persons from any part of the country to do the job under his leadership as the then governor of Lagos State,” he said.

Umar, who is also the Gombe State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, said he was optimistic that Tinubu would protect the interests of all Nigerians, carry everyone along and harness the best hands to do the job.

He urged the electorate to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and vote for APC candidates in the forthcoming election.

On his part, Hamza advised politicians to embrace peace and admonished the youths to eschew violence
