Why we support Tinubu in Zamfara: Senator Marafa

, ,

The Zamfara Coordinator of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Sen. Kabiru Marafa, has said that APC stakeholders in the state are rooting for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu because of his honesty, fairness, sincerity and trustworthiness.

This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Thursday by state APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris.

Marafa stated this while meeting with community-based institutions to further discuss the ability and capacity of the APC in the state.

“The Zamfara APC PCC leadership, under Sen Marafa, has continued to mobilise more support for Sen. Tinubu and Gov. Bello Matawalle, as well as all APC candidates in the 2023 general elections.

“The meeting, which held at the Government House, Gusau, had the leaders of various communities in the state in attendance”, Idris said.

According to the statement, Marafa urged the community leaders to support Tinubu because of his honesty, fairness, sincerity, trustworthiness and that he stands strong in the fear of God.

“He solicited their support to mobilise the electorate, especially at gatherings, to vote for all APC candidates.

“As leaders close to the people at the grassroots, you are highly respected in the communities and your words are usually accepted by your followers.

“Tinubu and Shettima’s candidature will bring sustainable development, ranging from the economy, improved security, social investment and wealth creation among the citizens.

“Tinubu’s record of service as governor of Lagos State was marvellous, unmatched and has been acknowledged by all for turning around the economy of the state and for creating job opportunities,“ the statement said.

Marafa urged the people to pray for the return of peace in the state.

In their separate remarks, community leaders declared their support for the candidature of Tinubu and Matawalle.

”The women and youth presidential campaign committee has become a movement by proving to be the game changer, leading a door to door campaign which led to a victory for APC at the 2015 presidential election.

”The victory is largely attributed to the tenacious efforts of young men and women of our party who drove out in an unprecedented numbers to vote for our party in 2015 and 2019 Presidential elections and we hope history will repeat itself in the 2023 elections.

She urged APC women and youths to sustain the energy and spirit used in the previous electioneering campaigns by ensuring a door-to-door campaign for the success of the party at the poll.

While handing over the flag of the party to Mrs Oluremi Tinubu for the commencement of nationwide campaign, the first lady urged her to close ranks with all members and pursue a vigorous campaign to ensure victory.

”I have today by my side, the wife of the presidential candidate and the wife of the Vice Presidential Candidate. I’m going to hand over a flag of success, a flag of victory, commitment, progress and unity to them.

”As I hand over this victory flag, I want you to move from zone to zone, state by state and seek for votes for the APC in order to deliver our candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” she said.

She urged Nigerian women and youths to support APC in its determination to complete the ongoing project it started for the benefit of all Nigerians.

”APC is making progress in the field of women empowerment and with APC the future of women and youth of Nigeria is assured.

”The affirmative action is a work in progress since the 1990s and we are happy because the foundation on which the incoming APC administration will crown our efforts has now been laid,” she said.

On her part, the wife of the APC Presidential Candidate Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, said the inauguration of the women and youths campaign team further reassured her of a nation that is unified, productive and peaceful.

Tinubu assured the gathering of their continued support to the less privileged Nigerians, especially in the areas of girl-child education and youths empowerment if Tinubu/Shettima are elected in the coming election.

The event was attended by the wives of the Governors of the APC-controlled states.

Tinubu promises South east massive development

PRESS RELEASE

Ports outside Lagos will be opened to activities

All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asíwájú Bola Tinubu, has promised the people of Southeast massive economic development and forward looking government that will assuage the past difficulties of the region.

He spoke at a TownHall meeting with leaders of the private sector and trade associations on Thursday in Owerri, Imo State capital.

The APC standard bearer was responding to the remarks of Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi who said the Southeast had been neglected and abandoned since the end of the civil war, asking what Tinubu had in stock for them.

Before his response to Governor Umahi, the APC presidential candidate thanked Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma who is also the Southeast Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign for facilitating the town hall meeting.

Asiwaju Tinubu used his address to comprehensively address the issues raised by Ebonyi State Governor and other development challenges of the old Eastern region first by recalling his experience as a son brought up by a mother who was a trader and market leader.

Tinubu said based on his experience and the lessons learnt, he understands the challenges traders, business owners and people of the South-East are going through.

The TownHall meeting was attended among others by APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s Vice Presidential Candidate Senator Kashim Shettima, Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi who is the Coordinator for South, House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Hon. Idris Wase, APC Deputy National Chairman, South, Barrister Emma Enekwu, Deputy National Chairman, North, Senator Abubakar Kyari and some members of the National Working Committee for the party.

Tinubu said about his mother: “She gave me the grit and determination which has served me well in politics. More important, she taught me that patience, wisdom, tolerance and generosity are the hallmarks of a good leader, be they a market leader or a candidate aspiring to the highest office of the land.”

On his plans for the Southeast after becoming Nigeria’s president from May 29, 2023, Tinubu said new industrial hubs would be created in Aba and Owerri, while already existing ones would be modernized.

He also spoke on making access to credit facilities available to the traders across the region and the country in general.

“My government shall build an economy with a growing industrial base, more and better jobs for our youth and more high-quality home-grown goods to sell and merchandise.

“We shall establish industrial hubs throughout the nation and modernize existing ones. We will encourage and facilitate greater production in places like Owerri and Aba. At the same time, we shall broaden opportunities for you to engage in more international commerce by steering more activity towards ports outside of Lagos such as Onne.

“I envision the Owerri-Port Harcourt and Aba-Port Harcourt corridors becoming more active and lucrative trade and manufacturing corridors than they already are.

“My administration will establish policies that widen your horizons and expand your business reach both in terms of the goods you sell and your geographic reach to new markets.

“Working with the state governments, the CBN and banking industry, we shall embark on a two-pronged credit revolution.

“First, on the sale and supply side, we shall seek to drive down interest rates on business loans, especially for investment in manufacturing as well as small and medium sized enterprises.

“Second, we seek to make consumer loans more available. This will allow more people to afford and buy more high-quality goods from you. By empowering the consumer, we increase economic activity and prosperity for the overall economy as well as for your individual businesses.

“We will put in place policies that will boost trade and commerce. We will solve the forex crisis and ensure that traders like you have easy access to a unified forex market.

“We shall seek to revive struggling industries in this region and throughout the nation.

“Working with governor Uzodimma, we shall continue to push to return Avutu Poultry to its status as a world class poultry farm. This will increase food and nutrition while creating jobs and giving us a chance to open new markets. Ada Palm can, once again, become a fulcrum of job creation and foreign currency earnings.”

On infrastructure development, the APC presidential flagbearer said the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri would become fully operational to help large-scale movement of goods across the region while priority would also be placed on the completion of the Abakaliki-Benin section of the rail project, integrating the Southeast to the national rail system.

“Our national infrastructure plan shall pay great attention to roadways eaten by erosion and flooding. We shall give traders the sound roads they deserve in order to move goods for the benefit of the rest of the population.

“For those of you in the agricultural sector, commodity exchange boards and other measures will be established to better link local markets and farmers with the global economy while also assuring them minimum prices for their harvests.

“The idea is to boost farm incomes, thus giving farmers greater incentive to produce more.

“We can hold to little of these good economic things without adequate peace and security. Our response to terror, kidnapping and violent criminality includes increased manpower, better communications and mobility equipment and training,” Tinubu added.

The former Lagos State governor also didn’t fail to mention that he would work towards integrating all regions in the country to ensure Nigeria continues to remain in unity.

“For me the unity of this nation is sacrosanct, it is non-negotiable. However, I realize that many people have genuine and painful grievances in need of fair and durable resolution.

“My government will be comprised of people from every section of the country and ready to discuss legitimate grievances with those in search of a peaceful resolution.

“Our nation is still in its infancy compared to other nations. I am proud of how far this nation has come. I also understand the great strides still to be made if we are to build for ourselves a nation of democratic good governance, development, justice, and unity,” he said.

Governor Uzodimma said the TownHall meeting was a deliberate strategy of the APC candidate to interface with the business leaders and trade associations in the Southeast so he can factor their positions and views in the business of government when elected.

APC Chairman Abdullahi Adamu said he was at the event to demonstrate that the APC is with the Southeast people and will not forsake them if they vote to entrust the next 4 years in the hands of the party.

South east business group raises N1 billion for Tinubu

, ,

Two thousand South eastern businessmen have contributed N1 billion to support the campaign of Asíwájú Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

Governor Hope Uzodimma made this known Thursday at the Town Hall meeting between Tinubu and business leaders in the region.

He said membership of the group was drawn from the five states of the region.

A spokesman for the group Emeka Mgbudem said the group believes in Nigeria and is committed to peace.

He said members contributed N500,000 each because they believe in Tinubu, after reading his Action Plan for Nigeria.

He said where an Ibo man puts his money, he puts his heart.

He however asked Tinubu to remove the numerous checkpoints on the roads in the region and also build the roads linking the state capitals in the region.

Responding, Tinubu pledged to introduce technology in the clearing of goods at the ports that will render unnecessary the checkpoints on the roads.

He also promised to run a government where all Nigerians are treated equally.

,

SPEECH BY ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU
AT THE TOWNHALL IN IMO STATE WITH THE TRADE ASSOCIATIONS 17 NOVEMBER 2022

INTRODUCTION
I STAND BEFORE YOU TODAY WITH PRIDE AND GREAT PLEASURE.

I AM ONE OF YOUR OWN, I AM YOUR SON AND BROTHER. AS I WALKED INTO THIS MEETING, I COULD NOT HELP BUT THINK OF MY LATE MOTHER. SHE WAS A TRADER AND MARKET LEADER.

BUT, MOST OF ALL SHE WAS A GREAT MOTHER. WITHOUT HER LOVE AND INSTRUCTION, I WOULD NOT BE WHERE I AM TODAY. I WOULD NOT HAVE ACHIEVED WHAT I HAVE ACHIEVED.

SHE GAVE ME THE GRIT AND DETERMINATION WHICH HAS SERVED ME WELL IN POLITICS. MORE IMPORTANTLY, SHE TAUGHT ME THAT PATIENCE, WISDOM, TOLERANCE AND GENEROSITY ARE THE HALLMARKS OF A GOOD LEADER, BE THEY A MARKET LEADER OR A CANDIDATE ASPIRING TO THE HIGHEST OFFICE OF THE LAND.

LET ME ALSO THANK MY BROTHER AND FRIEND, GOVERNOR UZODINMA FOR HOSTING THIS GREAT EVENT AND FOR WHAT HE IS DOING IN THIS STATE DESPITE THE CHALLENGES FACED.

WHEN IT BECOMES HIS TIME TO RUN AGAIN, MY ONLY SUGGESTION IS THAT YOU “RENEW HOPE”.

TO ALL THE GOVERNORS AND PARTY LEADERS PRESENT, I THANK YOU TOO FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.
TO THE PEOPLE OF IMO STATE AND THE ENTIRE SOUTHEAST, YOU ARE WORLD RENOWNED FOR YOUR BUSINESS ACUMEN. YOU ARE KNOWN FOR FINDING ROADS EVEN WHERE THERE ARE NONE. I THINK I SHARE THIS ATTRIBUTE WITH YOU.

TOGETHER LET US FIND THE ROAD TO MORE PRODUCTION, TRADE AND ECONOMIC OUTPUT. THIS IS THE ROAD THAT WILL FOSTER INCREASED DOMESTIC TRADE AND INTERNATIONAL EXPORTS.
1

TOGETHER WE SHALL FIND AND WALK THE ROAD OF RENEWED HOPE.

REVAMPING THE ECONOMY
TOGETHER WE MUST BEGIN TO REVAMP THE VERY STRUCTURE OF OUR ECONOMY. THE DAY IS LONG GONE WHEN WE COULD RELY ON OIL TO SEE US THROUGH.
IF WE CONTINUE AS IF OIL IS OUR SAVIOR, WE SHALL NOT ACHIEVE THE GREATNESS THAT IS WITHIN OUR REACH.

MY GOVERNMENT SHALL BUILD AN ECONOMY WITH A GROWING INDUSTRIAL BASE, MORE AND BETTER JOBS FOR OUR YOUTH AND MORE HIGH QUALITY HOME-GROWN GOODS TO SELL AND MERCHANDISE.

WE SHALL ESTABLISH INDUSTRIAL HUBS THROUGHOUT THE NATION AND MODERNIZE EXISTING ONES.

I ENVISION THE OWERRI-PORT HARCOURT AND ABA-PORT HARCOURT CORRIDORS BECOMING MORE ACTIVE AND LUCRATIVE TRADE AND MANUFACTURING CORRIDORS THAN THEY ALREADY ARE.

MY ADMINISTRATION WILL ESTABLISH POLICIES THAT WIDEN YOUR HORIZONS AND EXPAND YOUR BUSINESS REACH BOTH IN TERMS OF THE GOODS YOU SELL AND YOUR GEOGRAPHIC REACH TO NEW MARKETS.

WORKING WITH THE STATE GOVERNMENTS, THE CBN AND BANKING INDUSTRY, WE SHALL EMBARK ON A TWO PRONGED CREDIT REVOLUTION.

FIRST, ON THE SALE AND SUPPLY SIDE, WE SHALL SEEK TO DRIVE DOWN INTEREST RATES ON BUSINESS LOANS, ESPECIALLY FOR INVESTMENT IN MANUFACTURING AS WELL AS SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZED ENTERPRISES.
2

SECOND, WE SEEK TO MAKE CONSUMER LOANS MORE AVAILABLE. THIS WILL ALLOW MORE PEOPLE TO AFFORD AND BUY MORE HIGH QUALITY GOODS FROM YOU.

BY EMPOWERING THE CONSUMER, WE INCREASE ECONOMIC ACTIVITY AND PROSPERITY FOR THE OVERALL ECONOMY AS WELL AS FOR YOUR INDIVIDUAL BUSINESSES.
WE WILL PUT IN PLACE POLICIES THAT WILL BOOST TRADE AND COMMERCE. WE WILL SOLVE THE FOREX CRISIS AND ENSURE THAT TRADERS LIKE YOU HAVE EASY ACCESS TO A UNIFIED FOREX MARKET.

WE SHALL SEEK TO REVIVE STRUGGLING INDUSTRIES IN THIS REGION AND THROUGHOUT THE NATION.

WORKING WITH GOVERNOR UZODINMA, WE SHALL CONTINUE TO PUSH TO RETURN AVUTU POULTRY TO ITS STATUS AS A WORLD CLASS POULTRY FARM. THIS WILL INCREASE FOOD AND NUTRITION WHILE CREATING JOBS AND GIVING US A CHANCE TO OPEN NEW MARKETS.

ADAPALM CAN, ONCE AGAIN, BECOME A FULCRUM OF JOB CREATION AND FOREIGN CURRENCY EARNINGS.

THE GLOBAL PALM OIL MARKET WAS ESTIMATED AT 63.6 BILLION DOLLARS LAST YEAR. OUR NATION WAS ONCE A LEADER IN THIS SECTOR. WE SHALL BE AGAIN, BY GOD’S GRACE.

BUILDING ON THE UNPARALLELED LEGACY OF PRESIDENT BUHARI IN THE AREA OF INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT, WE WILL ENSURE THAT THE SAM MBAKWE AIRPORT BECOMES FULLY OPERATIONAL TO ENABLE THE LARGE SCALE MOVEMENT OF MANUFACTURED GOODS AND AGRICULTURAL PRODUCE.

TO MOVE GOODS AND PEOPLE FASTER AND MORE CHEAPLY, THIS REGION WILL BE INTEGRATED INTO THE NATIONAL RAIL SYSTEM FIRST BY COMPLETING THE ABAKALIKI- BENIN ARM THEN BY EXPANDING THE SYSTEM TO OTHER PARTS OF THE REGION.

OUR NATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE PLAN SHALL PAY GREAT ATTENTION TO ROADWAYS EATEN BY EROSION AND FLOODING. WE SHALL GIVE TRADERS THE SOUND ROADS THEY DESERVE IN ORDER TO MOVE GOODS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE REST OF THE POPULATION.
3

FOR THOSE OF YOU IN THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR, COMMODITY EXCHANGE BOARDS AND OTHER MEASURES WILL BE ESTABLISHED TO BETTER LINK LOCAL MARKETS AND FARMERS WITH THE GLOBAL ECONOMY WHILE ALSO ASSURING THEM MINIMUM PRICES FOR THEIR HARVESTS.
THE IDEA IS TO BOOST FARM INCOMES, THUS GIVING FARMERS GREATER INCENTIVE TO PRODUCE MORE.
WE CAN HOLD TO LITTLE OF THESE GOOD ECONOMIC THINGS WITHOUT ADEQUATE PEACE AND SECURITY. OUR RESPONSE TO TERROR, KIDNAPPING AND VIOLENT CRIMINALITY INCLUDES INCREASED MANPOWER, BETTER COMMUNICAITONS AND MOBILITY EQUIPMENT AND TRAINING.

VISION FOR A BOOMING ECONOMY

STARTING FROM 1999, MY TEAM AND I DEVELOPED A BLUEPRINT, A MASTER PLAN, FOR LAGOS. I CAN SAY THAT PLAN HAS BEEN LARGELY SUCCESSFUL. WE DID MORE THAN OPEN LAGOS FOR BUSINESS. WE OPENED THE DOOR FOR ALL NIGERIANS TO JOIN IN AND EXPERIENCE THE SUSTAINED BENEFITS THAT PROGRESSIVE AND DEMOCRATIC GOOD GOVERNANCE CAN BRING.
WHAT WAS ACHIEVED IN LAGOS, WE WANT TO ACHIEVE ON A NATIONAL SCALE.

UNITY AND PEACE

AS I CONCLUDE, LET ME SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THE UNITY OF THIS NATION. FOR ME THE UNITY OF THIS NATION IS SACROSANCT, IT IS NON-NEGOTIABLE.
HOWEVER, I REALIZE THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE GENUINE AND PAINFUL GRIEVANCES IN NEED OF FAIR AND DURABLE RESOLUTION.

MY GOVERNMENT WILL BE COMPRISED OF PEOPLE FROM EVERY SECTION OF THE COUNTRY AND READY TO DISCUSS LEGITIMATE GRIEVANCES WITH THOSE IN SEARCH OF A PEACEFUL RESOLUTION.

OUR NATION IS STILL IN ITS INFANCY COMPARED TO OTHER NATIONS.
4

I AM PROUD OF HOW FAR THIS NATION HAS COME. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THE GREAT STRIDES STILL TO BE MADE IF WE ARE TO BUILD FOR OURSELVES A NATION OF DEMOCRATIC GOOD GOVERNANCE, DEVELOPMENT, JUSTICE, AND UNITY.

CONCLUSION
I CALL ON YOU AS INDIVIDUALS AND AS LEADERS IN THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY TO JOIN HANDS WITH ME TO ACHIEVE PROSPERITY AND RENEWED HOPE. I CALL ON YOU TO CHOOSE TO BE PART OF OUR NATION’S GOLDEN FUTURE. I CALL ON YOU TO ALIGN YOURSELVES WITH THE BEST AND ONLY HOPE FOR PROGRESSIVE GOOD GOVERNANCE IN YOUR REGION AND THROUGHOUT NIGERIA.
THIS NATION NOW WAITS AT A THRESHOLD. LET US, TOGETHER, CROSS TO THE BETTER SIDE TO SECURE FOR OUR BELOVED NATION ITS FINER DESTINY.
LET US TAKE THAT COURAGEOUS STEP! LET US WALK TOWARD A BETTER AND GREATER NIGERIA.
THANK YOU FOR LISTENING. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

Tinubu speaks in Jos

For the records: Tinubu’s speech at Jos flag-off rally

,

Full Text of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Speech At Presidential Campaign Flagoff in Jos on 15 November

PROTOCOLS

It is indeed a great honour to flag off our presidential campaign in Jos, the Home of Peace and Tourism. On this glorious plateau for which this state is named, one can see the vast potential and scope of our excellent nation.
One can look out on the horizon of renewed hope the great things we are capable of achieving with unity of purpose and a collective spirit.
One can see greater prosperity and jobs in an economy humming with activity. From the farmer in the rural area to the city boy in a bustling urban centre, each will have productive work to do and a decent home to return to.

One can see a Nigeria where all who want to will be able to build a decent life from the fruits of their individual and collective endeavour. From this fine vantage point, we see how far we have come. We also see how far we must go and the road that will take us there.

With this flag off, we take a most important, and symbolic step in the best and proper direction.
I am deeply honoured for the presence of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari. As campaign chairman, he promised to lead from the front. A man of his word, President Buhari has done what he said and more.

Mr. President, you have provided exceptional service to the nation and party. Your contributions are both positive and enduring. When the history of this period is objectively written, it will smile upon you and treat you with utmost kindness.

I thank our national chairman of the party for his sagacity in steering party affairs.
To the patriotic governors of our great party, I thank you for your solidarity and support since we commenced this journey. I extend the same appreciation to other important leaders here today.

My hardworking Director General, Governor Lalong, I appreciate your leadership of the campaign. I see your positive footprints on the Plateau. You are an excellent DG and governor.

To all of you, our dear party members and the general public, thank you for being with us today. Plateau is a state rich in minerals, agriculture, tourism, and industrial potential. May these blessings continue. And may such blessings extend to every state, community, and home in this state and in our nation.

We have come to this historic site not just to flag off a presidential campaign.

We hereby reaffirm our commitment to progressive good governance and to the fruits that such governance can bring to this nation. February 2023 is more than an election. It is a fight to define the soul of the nation and to determine our collective fate.

Do we adhere to the ideals of broadly shared prosperity, competence, peace, justice and compassion toward all?

Or do we toss these ideals away, lashing ourselves to the divisive politics of the past or to those whose rantings show they cannot distinguish between fact and fantasy.

One party wants to take us back to a past that never should have been. Another party wants to take us to a past that resides only in its candidate’s head.

16 Neither the old road nor the fantasy road is good enough.

17 Instead, we forge the wiser path toward our approved destination — an even better Nigeria. This is what the election is truly about.

Here, I thank president Buhari again because he has truly established a strong foundation for the things we are now to do. The Buhari administration achieved things in the agricultural, infrastructural, and power sector no other administration has done.

Additionally, his government liberated hundreds of communities from terrorists and brought thousands of displaced persons back to their homes.

Truly the foundation has been set. It is now time to call more builders forward to further construct the national edifice that will be our best home.

We, the APC and the Tinubu/Shettima team, seek to make permanent a covenant of progressive good governance with the people. Under this hopeful pact, we will assemble the best team.

We shall build on progress in the agricultural sector by establishing commodity boards guaranteeing minimal prices for strategic crops.

We shall create agricultural and industrial hubs in all zones. You shall also see water catchment and irrigation systems to help farming while mitigating the dire effects of drought and flooding brought about by a changing climate.

We will encourage urban employment through a national industrial plan that employs a series of measures including tax and employment credits.

We will deepen the knowledge economy. Millions of the tech savvy, innovative youth will benefit as will our overall economy. Talented youth will find a place in our government. We will bring greater power through natural gas and reasonable reform of the entire power sector. Our government will continue the infrastructural expansion so the overall economy may continue to expand in lockstep.

Most importantly, I will give utmost priority to extinguishing terrorists and violent criminals.
We shall augment our military, police and security personnel while providing them with better tactical communication and mobility. We will employhi-tech aerial surveillance to track and attack these menaces.

These evil forces seek to destroy our democratic way of life. I have news for them. We will defeat their destructive way of life. They shall be utterly defeated and vanquished from our soil.

I have already taken enough time. But the little I have said shows the difference between what we seek for Nigeria in contrast to the negative things my opponents plot to do to Nigeria.

The road to a better Nigeria lies before us. Together, let us walk it. Together, let us renew hope.

That journey begins now!

Thank you for listening.

God bless you all.
And God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Gov. Uzodimma speaks on Tinubu’s pre-campaign visit to Imo today

, ,

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will today meet with private sector drivers in Imo, preparatory to his upcoming campaign in the state.

Gov. Hope Uzodimma made the disclosure while addressing newsmen on Wednesday, at the Sam Mbakwe Int’l Cargo Airport, Owerri, upon his arrival from the APC Presidential Campaign flag-off in Plateau.

Uzodimma said that the private sector drivers would include investors, manufacturers and traders among others.

“Imo will today, Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, hold a town hall meeting where Tinubu will be present to speak to the private sector, listen to them and hear some of the challenges they have been confronted with in the course of doing their businesses.

“He will also see whether they are provided in his manifesto and if not, make the final amendment to the manifesto,” he said.

The Governor, who is also the Co-ordinator for the APC’s South East Presidential Campaign Council, reiterated his call on Igbo to be part of the government of Nigeria at the centre by keying into the agenda of the APC which he said was already a success story in Imo.

“The only way to be part of Nigeria is being part of the government at the centre and the government at the centre is controlled by the APC.

“In Imo, there is a lot to why everyone should encourage APC. You don’t change the winning team as APC is wining in Imo and other States of the federation so it should continue,” he said.

He described the Party’s outing in Jos as “a welcome development that recorded a very huge success”.
According to him, the flag-off was a symbolic event as it would encourage other states to replicate what happened in Jos in their states.

“All members of the Party in Imo will come out to receive the presidential candidate of the APC who will also speak to the larger audience at the venue,” he said.

Tinubu will return to the state next Tuesday to hold a campaign rally, according to the amended campaign schedule released last week.

About

Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a man of many traditional honours across the country, from north to south, west to east. The array of titles he has garnered was only comparable to that of Chief Moshood Abiola, winner of the 1993 Presidential election.
