Adams Oshiomhole attacks Atiku

Atiku’s ambition is about himself, not Nigeria: Oshiomhole

,

Former Edo Governor, Adams Oshiomhole has described the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar as the weakest of the top candidates in the 2023 presidential election.

Oshiomhole stated that Atiku cannot be trusted because Governors within his party do not even trust him (Atiku) because he is a “serial betrayer of agreement.”

He said: “He (Atiku) is the weakest link right now among the three leading candidates.

“PDP governors said we can’t trust him, every agreement we made with him, he broke it; he is a serial betrayer of agreements.”

Oshiomhole said Atiku’s ambition is just only about himself and not about Nigeria.

He said: “In this case, everything is on the surface. First, there are three main candidates, and there are several other candidates, and I believe they all have good intentions.

“It is no secret that you have at least 5 Governors (PDP G-5 governors) including Governors that matters in the south south — when you talk about the stronghold of the PDP, some of the Governors revolting against Atiku are from that part of the country.

“Our candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu went to Gbaramatu Kingdom for the first time, and I’m not sure a PDP candidate has ever gone there because they’ve always taken them for granted. PDP is a house divided against itself.

“The real damage being done to the situation of PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku is that Governors who have never decamped from PDP, who can be called PDP indigenes, they’ve spoken to the fact that you can’t trust the PDP candidate Atiku, and they withdrew from his campaign council. Even Mimiko is in that group.

“Atiku went to Ondo state today (Wednesday), and didn’t have the honour to be received by high-profiled politician in the state. This is not secret to be uncovered.

“If five people (G-5 governors) have reasons to question the character of Atiku, that you can’t trust his words, that he can’t even manage his own party, he can’t grant concessions. He is so fixated about certain things. He is totally insensitive to project Nigeria — the need to keep Nigeria together. He could go to a place like Kaduna and speak to them saying don’t vote a Yoruba man, he didn’t say don’t vote for Tinubu, that’s a huge difference. Don’t vote an Igbo man, a man who seeks to govern Nigeria has said this publicly on records, how can you entrust him? You can’t manage your household, and you want to preach unity, that’s not possible.

“It is not difficult to see why Atiku can’t win. He can’t. When he had the benefit of joint ticket between Atiku and Obi, he got all the votes in the east, but he couldn’t make it. What miracles does he have? This house is broken.

“Atiku is battle weary, he has nothing new to say. He will sell everything. I will sell NNPC, once he says he will sell NNPC, people will say Oh! that was the way you sold NITEL. What became of NITEL? oh! I will enrich my friends, so is it about enriching your friends?

“I think for Atiku himself it is just hard for him to throw in the towel and say I give up, so he’d rather patch it up. He’s the weakest link right now, among the three leading candidates. Atiku and Obi have been on the ballot before, and they were rejected.

“What Atiku couldn’t atikulate last time, is he planning to disatikulate. For Atiku, if he is not a candidate, he’ll take flight to Dubai. Tinubu supported his wife, while he looked after the home front in Lagos. He provided support for Buhari to win.

“Tinubu speaks to character. When you’ve set some beliefs, you cannot be jumping from one party to another. Play Atiku’s statement since 1999, as a vice president he challenged his own boss, at the end of the tenure, he is in history as the only vice-president who decided to question the right of his boss to contest for second term, and the boss persuaded him to let him run. Atiku’s ambition is just about himself.”

Video: Oshiomhole tackles Atiku over ethnic campaign

, ,

Former chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole has criticised the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar for campaigning along ethnic lines.

Oshiomhole said it was damaging for Atiku to say “don’t vote” for Bola Tinubu or Peter Obi because they are not northerners.

He said the statement does not enhance national unity, at a time that the nation needs it most.

In a move that suggested desperation, Atiku told a public gathering in Kaduna last month, that he should be supported because he is a northerner.

Oshiomhole on Friday said Atiku’s bid for the presidency would fail again as he does not have the national support.

He predicted a landslide victory for the APC candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

”So, if you ask me how we are doing, we are doing very well. Whereas the other is now battling with five governors that backed out and you find out how many governors they have, we have 23.

”Now, if you add 23 to five, I’m not saying the five are with us, but we have 23 with five, I guess that’s 28. If you subtract 28 from 36, it means only eight governors, in fact, seven, because the other one in APGA is not there.

“So, while he has seven governors working for him, we have 23 working for us and we have five who are neutral. You know when you are voting, when I was in ILO, you vote for, against or you abstain. Abstinence is as good as voting against.

“So, however, you look at it, our campaign is going smoothly and the message is very clear. It’s very clear, it cannot be better.”

Oshiomhole with Buhari in Abuja

Oshiomhole lauds Buhari for supporting APC, Tinubu

, ,

Former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for demonstrating genuine support and the desired goodwill for the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Oshiomhole made the commendation while addressing State House correspondents after a closed door meeting with the president in Abuja on Friday.

The ex-APC national chairman said he was in the State House to express formal appreciation to the president for his determination and commitment to the APC ahead of the 2023 elections.

Oshiomhole, therefore, lauded the Nigerian leader for his resolve to remain at the forefront in the task of ensuring that the APC retains power for the sustenance and consolidation of its worthy legacies.

He expressed absolute confidence in the ability of the party’s flag bearer to have a landslide victory at the poll.

According to him, all the 23 APC governors are working relentlessly towards the success of Tinubu in the 2023 general elections, while the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has only about seven PDP governors supporting him.

It’s very clear, it cannot be better.

”You saw us yesterday in Owerri. For me that was perhaps one of the best outings we’ve had.

”You listened to our candidate, you listened to those who spoke in Owerri, some of them offered to contribute towards the campaign because their concerns have been addressed by the APC candidate,” he said.

According to Oshiomhole, Tinubu is being accepted in the Southeast because the APC will continue to address the socio-economic and political interests of the zone,

He said: ”Election is about interest, whoever will address your interests, not religious sentiment, not ethnic sentiment, because hunger doesn’t have religious affiliation; unemployment does not have religious affiliation.

”Whoever will address your concerns, if you are a trader, whoever would make sure that the ports work more efficiently, you don’t have to pay toll to all kinds of people, that is the kind of person you want.

“Government is about providing those assets. We must talk about enabling environment and our candidate has laid out how he will do it,” he said.

Oshiomhole, who is the Deputy Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, believed that Atiku had committed many errors that would pave way for the smooth and easy electoral victory for the APC in the 2023 presidential election.

According to him, the PDP presidential candidate has depleted the opposition party’s chances by offending some of those who ought to be major backers of his campaign.
