Peter Obi’s Nigerian Coalition for Justice busted in USA

PRESS RELEASE

March 25, 2023

Nigerian American Coalition for Justice & Democracy is a Partisan Peter Obi group of supporters – APC-USA

The All Progressives Congress, United States Chapter has described the so-called Nigerian American Coalition for Justice and Democracy (NACJD) as a group of Peter Obi supporters (“Obidients”) masquerading themselves as a non-partisan political activist group.

In a statement issued in New York, APC-USA condemned NACJD and their promoters for circulating in the social media a flyer and a statement about a planned “World Press Conference and a Protest” in Washington DC about the outcome of the February 25th Nigerian presidential election.

APC-USA described the group’s actions as being politically and tribally motivated, and borne out of mischief and ignorance.

APC-USA restated that the February 25, 2023 presidential election was free, fair and transparent, and the APC presidential ticket of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima won the election clean and clear.

APC-USA condemned one Franklin Ekechukwu for circulating a false statement about the February 25th presidential election and misleading unsuspecting members of the public of the letters he and his ethnic jingoists allegedly sent to the White House and the US Congress.

APC-USA stated that there was no evidence that such letters were written, delivered and acknowledged by the White House and the US Congress.

APC-USA stated that the United States and many other countries have congratulated the President-Elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory at the polls.

APC-USA said that the so-called press conference and the protest are just another attempt by the Obidients to discredit the outcome of the presidential election and the person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

APC-USA described the people behind the so-called NACJDas sore losers who are finding it difficult to accept the outcome of the presidential election.

APC USA wondered why they are not protesting against the outcome of the National Assembly, the Governorship and the House of Assembly elections that were similarly conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

APC-USA alleged that the planned actions of NACJD are purely partisan, purely tribalistic, and are intended to discredit the presidential election and the country in the eye of the international community, and also cause disaffection among Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora.

APC-USA again expressed its satisfaction with the February 25th presidential election and described it as unprecedented in the history of the country.

The Chapter reminded the world that it was the first election in Nigeria where the party of the sitting president lost the home state of the president, and the winner of the presidential election lost his home state where he had been winning all elections since 1999.

APC-USA stated that there is no country in the world where there is a perfect election, but that as long as any alleged infractions would not affect the outcome of the election, the people and the courts will not overturn the election.

“Even in the United States, we are not immuned from election controversies, disputes and conflicts which were recently evident in the 2020 presidential election”, the statement added.

APC-USA advised the general public and the credible media outlets to disregard and ignore the so-called world press conference and protest as they are another dubious efforts to misrepresent the facts and the truth about the February 25th presidential election, and continue to cause unnecessary controversies over the election that was widely acclaimed to be free and fair.

APC-USA advised the Obidients and other Nigerians to join hands with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to build a new Nigeria where peace, prosperity, justice and equity will reign.

APC-USA however promised to continue to defend the outcome of the February 25th presidential election, and challenge any person or group of persons that are bent on fanning embers of hatred and disunity among Nigerians, and disparage the image of Nigeria in the United States.

Obidient Movement a.k.a. Labour Party supporters

Obidient movement may push Nigeria into crisis

,

By Fredrick Nwabufo

I had expected the Obidient movement to abandon its punitive expedition after the elections and evolve into an ideological pressure group – a worthy opposition. But the movement is still anything but ideological and civil. It has become more brutish, more desperate, nastier, and feral. The Obidient movement is shaping up to be a gaggle of insurrectionists.

For all intents and purposes, the movement seems to be gearing up to make the country ungovernable.

Diligent and disciplined opposition is essential for democracy. In fact, there is no democracy, if there is no educated opposition. No government is short of opposition. In a democracy, the residence of an animated opposition signals the buoyancy of the system. Where there is democracy, there is opposition. Opposition is the mitochondrion of a republican system – it keeps the government on the mill working according to purpose.

But one thing that drives genuine opposition and that should be the nucleus of every group is national interest. National interest and security should dictate the terms of engagement of any movement.

Any movement not guided by the national interest is a threat to the security of all Nigerians. The Obidient movement appears unconcerned about the deleterious effects of its methods on national security and the national psyche. I fear that some members of the proscribed group, IPOB, may be within the commanding heights of the movement.

The resort to malicious falsehood, threats of violence and violence on those who differ betokens a grimier trajectory. The Obidient movement may just be the political platform for those waging a war against Nigeria by other means.

The movement’s methods are worsening the already deteriorating relationship among Nigerians of different ethnic backgrounds. This is how inter-ethnic dissension is born. There is the assumption that it is the Igbo against the Yoruba or the Yoruba against the Igbo, but this is not true. It is ‘’Obidients’’ against the rest of Nigeria.

The Obidient movement does not represent the Igbo. Let me make that very clear. It is peopled by a melange of persons who pursue the illusory ambition of one man. They are powered by the ambition of one man, and not the interest of any ethnic group. It is important Nigerians situate the present confusion within this context. The Obidient movement does not represent any ethnic group.

Political actors and lovers of Nigeria must wade in with their voices and actions to tame this babel. Nigeria is on a slippery slope. This is not a time for politics, but a time for statesmen and stateswomen to rise and defend the country against internecine strife. National interest and security should govern public comments at this time.

We must put the peace and security of this nation first.

I have no doubt that we will come out stronger as a nation. From chaos comes change. Nigeria will always triumph – over the pestilence of the night; the darkness of Edom, principalities, and powers; snakes and scorpions. Nigeria has survived pestilence, riots and unimaginable chaos that split countries. It is still going.

But why does Nigeria always win – in the end? It is because you, me, they, them, we, us. It is because of all of us who despite our dissatisfaction with the system, come together to steady the ship and steer it aright against the blizzards and tempests.

It is because of you who despite your financial challenges refuse to compromise the public purse; refuse to steal public funds or cut corners; it is because of you who decline to take bribes to get jobs done; it is because of you who against personal trials and tribulations refuse to join the choir of the scoffers who do not see anything good in the country and who will neither make an effort nor contribute a mite to its progress. It is because of all of you who do not give up but stand to fight for the country.

When I say ‘One Nigeria’ I do not deny the very obvious threats to our unity. I do not live in denial of the chasm keeping us apart, but I believe in that uncommon facility of Nigerians to close this gap and work together for the common good. When it comes down to it, Nigerians are their brother’s keeper. We have seen this rare quality in display all the time.

One Nigeria’ is not a political placebo; it does not mean the absence of conflict or a denial of the present realities; it is a term that should evoke hope and promise for us all.

To me, Nigeria means hope and promise of a greater now and future; it means resilience and courage to rise from dust and nothing; it means purpose in disarray, unity in diversity, brotherhood in divergence and love even in dangerous times.

Anyim to PDP: Show remorse, sobriety for losing presidential election

,

Former Senate President Chief Anyim Pius Anyim has slammed the PDP National Working Committee for arrogance despite losing the presidential election.

Anyim, who was also a former secretary of the Government of the Federation, was reacting to his suspension by the party for supporting Ebonyi Governor-elect, Francis Nwifuru, a member of the APC.

“It is difficult to explain why the NWC is in a hurry to suspend party leaders without recourse to fair hearing without which its action is null and void.

“It smacks of arrogance for the NWC to put a bold face instead of showing remorse and being sober for leading the party to such colossal loss in the elections.

“This loss ultimately dashed the hopes and expectations of party members and Nigerians,” he said.

Anyim described the NWC’s action as disappointing, noting that its concern could have been how to embark on self appraisal.

“I thought the NWC could have been interested in undertaking a thorough appraisal on why it performed so poorly in the election.

“This should have been the case rather than seek to further divide the party through blames,” he added.

Anyim said he was proud to have supported Nwifuru to win the March 18 governorship election in Ebonyi.

In a statement he signed, he stated that he had no regrets supporting the APC candidate because it conformed with the existing power-rotation formula in the state.

“”The NWC imposed a candidate who is from the same senatorial district with the incumbent governor, contrary to the zoning formula in the state.

“Every effort made for the NWC to see reasons fell on deaf ears.

“I told the party’s national chairman on the day of our presidential rally in Ebonyi that I will boycott it because I cannot support a candidate the NWC imposed on the state.

“He said nothing and did not care that I did not attend the rally,” he said.

The former secretary to the government of the federation said that arising from the leadership style of the NWC, many party members worked against it including the committee’s members.

“It is, therefore, a display of innate cowardice for the NWC to choose soft targets to suspend and fear those who daily demonise it.

“It is difficult to explain why the NWC is in a hurry to suspend party leaders without recourse to fair hearing without which its action is null and void.

The PDP NWC on Thursday suspended Anyim alongside other prominent party members over alleged anti-party activities.

About

Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a man of many traditional honours across the country, from north to south, west to east. The array of titles he has garnered was only comparable to that of Chief Moshood Abiola, winner of the 1993 Presidential election.
