Buhari and Tinubu

Buhari never said he won’t handover to Tinubu: Aso Rock

STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE

THE PRESIDENT NEVER SAID HE WON’T HAND OVER TO ELECTED TINUBU

The Presidency wishes to denounce as outrageous and fake, and condemns the fake news brigade for attributing a false quote to President Muhammadu Buhari and circulating it.

How can you vigorously campaign for somebody, vote for him and then say you won’t hand over to him? This beggars belief.

The situation of the Sahara Reporters is pretty pathetic since their ownership is politically partisan in today’s politics, in fact a loser in the presidential election. Instead of talking about issues, they repeatedly sell lies in the hope that people believe them as truth.

The government is already in transition phase.

The Transition Committee, made up of representatives of the outgoing administration and the incoming one is meeting on an almost daily basis planning the handover to the Tinubu/Shettima administration.

Thirteen committees as offshoots of the main committee, some, to arrange military drills and pulling out of President Buhari, are either all at work or soon to be.

So far, everything is going very well and there is no indication of any hitches.

As for the President, the Daura community has begun their preparations to receive their son back after the successful administration of the country for two terms of eight years. He, for his part, is eager to return home to enjoy his retirement.

CBN orders banks open weekend, supplies bank notes

,

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has ordered commercial banks to open at the weekend and also confirmed the evacuation of banknotes from its vaults to them.

According to a statement issued by Dr Isa AbdulMumin, the Acting Director, Corporate Communications of the CBN, the belated measures were part of a coordinated effort to ease the circulation of banknotes of various denominations.

AbdulMumin said that the CBN has asked commercial banks to open for operation on Saturdays and Sundays to meet their customers’ demand.

He said that the CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele would personally monitor compliance of the commercial banks to the directive.

According to him, a substantial amount of money in various denominations had been received by the banks for onward circulation to their customers.

“The CBN has also directed all banks to load their Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) as well as conduct physical operations in the banking halls through the weekends.

“Branches of commercial banks will operate on Saturdays and Sundays to attend to customers’ cash needs,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to exercise patience as the current situation would soon ease off with the injection of more banknotes into circulation.

The CBN moves came as the Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) threatened to begin the picketing of CBN offices nationwide. The picketing is scheduled to begin Monday.

Oyetola and Adeleke

Appeal Court affirms Adeleke’s election as Osun governor

,

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has affirmed the election of Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun.

The appellate court set aside the verdict of the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which sacked him from office.

Delivering judgment in the appeal filed by Adeleke on Friday, a three-member panel of Justices led by Justice Mohammed Shuaibu, held that the Tribunal erred when it ruled that the 1st and 2nd respondents (Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress) proved their allegation of over-voting in the July 2022 election.

The Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in January held that Oyetola was able to prove that there was over-voting in some of the polling units.

Consequently, the majority judgment of the Tribunal ordered INEC to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Adeleke and issue a fresh one to Oyetola as the duly elected governor of Osun instead.

About

Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a man of many traditional honours across the country, from north to south, west to east. The array of titles he has garnered was only comparable to that of Chief Moshood Abiola, winner of the 1993 Presidential election.
