Tinubu promises to conquer poverty in Nigeria as president

,

Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has promised to conquer poverty in Nigeria, when elected in 2023.

Tinubu, who made the promise at the Town Hall meeting of the South-South region on Tuesday in Calabar, said that he would deploy all the human and material resources God has bestowed on the country to move it out of poverty.

The presidential candidate, who noted that education remains the greatest tool to fight poverty, said that each state of the federation is blessed with abundant natural resources, all of which would be deployed in changing the fortune of the country.

He, however, pointed out that in doing that, there was the need for people to remain united and stop the destruction of what God had deposited in the country to enhance its greatness.

“My quest to progressively drive Nigeria forward is the only reason I am running; no other person is running with me.

“Those who say they are running have no iota of honesty in them; they can’t keep to their promises; all they are interested in is to insult me and yet, they don’t have facts.

“I am a wrestler, but I don’t wrestle with just anybody; my only concern is to move Nigeria forward,” he said.

The former Lagos governor decried the slow pace of growth and development in the country, adding that his administration would turn around the fortune of the country.

He promised to unite Nigerians in order to ensure steady growth and progress.

“Moving Nigeria forward is a task that must be done, and anger, division, breaking apart will not solve it; it can only be achieved by being together.

“Let us conquer hunger rather than allowing hunger to conquer us. So, let’s come together and make great wealth for the nation and our people,” he said.

The presidential candidate said that Cross River had the potential to be the tourism hub of Africa.

Gov. Ben Ayade stressed the need for the country to go back to agriculture, if the desire to conquer hunger must be achieved.

Ayade expressed the regret that with its vast land, Nigeria had not attained its full potential, particularly in the area of agriculture.

“It is a pity that we are just using our huge cocoa to import poverty, because we don’t have the industry to add value to the produce.

“The same with our huge bitumen deposit, because we import bitumen used for road construction.

“This is why I say that Tinubu is being summoned by God to come and change Nigeria’s narrative.

“He did it in Lagos when he conquered the Atlantic Ocean. He also did many other great things in the state and I am optimistic that he will replicate same in Nigeria, if elected president,” the governor stated

Tinubu endorsed by Northern Christian groups in Kaduna, wife donates rice, wrappers

Some groups of Northern Christians, have adopted and endorsed the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in the forthcoming 2023 presidential election.

The various groups on Tuesday in Kaduna, adopted Tinubu as their candidates at an endorsement ceremony, organised by the Christian Northern Nigerian Political Forum (CNNPF).

The endorsement followed the donation of food items to Christian communities in the North, by Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, wife of Tinubu, at the famous Murtala Muhammad Square in Kaduna.

Tinubu who donated over 2,000 bags of rice and wrappers to women in the state, assured the Christian communities in the North of inclusive administration if her husband is elected president.

Tinubu, who was the special guest of honour at the event, maintained that her husband’s track record of inclusiveness made his campaign promises regarding equitable representation believable.

Earlier, Mr. Ibrahim Itodo, Coordinator of CNNPF, reminded the Christian communities of the nation’s need of a visionary leader.

He added that if Tinubu could turn insecure Lagos state into a thriving economy, then he would lead the nation out of its current socio-economic and security challenges.

He said the issue of the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket which was interpreted to Islamize Nigeria was a past issue and had been resolved.

Also, speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sideline of the event, Mr. Isacc Abrak, the Chairman of the Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP), said they were at the event to show to the world that Christians in the Northern part of Nigeria knew who Bola Tinubu was.

He said that the Northern Christians had understood and bought the idea of Tinubu’s choice of Muslim as a running mate.

“Northern Christians have understood that the Muslim-Muslim ticket by Tinubu is basically for strategy and not as wrongly said and perceived by other Christians that it was a look down on them.

“When Tinubu emerges the President, he will carry the Northern Christians and everybody along, so we are at this event to show the country that we are with the him and his wife,” Abrak said.

He explained “To quench that assertion of Northern Christians that Tinubu doesn’t care about them, we mobilised ourselves massively from the 19 Northern states to show our solidarity with Tinubu and the APC.”

He further said that Tinubu is competent leader looking at his antecedent.

“Tinubu has changed Lagos State, he is going to change Northern Nigeria, he will bring mass youths employment to solve our insecurity,”Abrak said.

He assured that if Tinubu becomes the president, he will revive the moribund textile Industries in the Northern part of the country as he promised in his manifesto.

“When the moribund textile industries are revived, it will do away with the issues of insecurity bedeviling the North,” he said.

NAN reports that at the event were the governors of Kaduna, Kano and Katsina, as well as Hajiya Hafstat Ganduje, among other APC stalwarts.

NAN also reports that Mrs. Tinubu called for a minute silence in honour of the recent 38 people slain by bandits in Kaura local council area of Kaduna.

According to him, God has given the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate an unusual wisdom to navigate through uncommon leadership situations to take Nigeria to greater heights.

Also, the Women Leader of CNNPF, Christina Bature explained that members of the Forum believed in Tinubu’s capacity and his goodwill for Nigeria.

“As an elder statesman, we are optimistic that he will deliver on the mandate to restore lasting peace, modernise the education sector, improve and agriculture, safeguard all citizens and return all IDPs to their habitats,” she said.

In his speech, Gov. Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, assured that Tinubu would be just, fair and equitable to all Nigerians, if elected president.

He said that the forthcoming election was not about religion or ethnicity, but about capacity, competence and commitment to the people.

“I appeal to you not to listen to any sentiment and support Tinubu, I know all the aspirants and I know their capacities, no one can match him,” he said.

El-Rufai admonished Nigerians to reject the religious narrative, saying that Tinubu as a Muslim has a Christian wife for over 30 years, who is also Senior Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

According to him, Northern politicians agreed that after eight years of President Muhammadu Buhari, the presidency should go to southern Nigeria in the interest of fairness, equity and unity.

He said North west governors particularly supported Tinubu because of his track record and performance when he served as Governor of Lagos State, and what he can do for Nigeria.

In a remark, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the APC presidential candidate, described the unity of Nigeria irrespective of ethic and religious differences, as a plan of God.

“In unity we can move forward,” she said, adding that Nigerians should keep praying for the nation to be more blessed.

She expressed appreciation to the group for the mammoth crowd of supporters and their resolve to vote for Tinubu and the APC in 2023.

Earlier, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, the deputy governorship candidate of APC in the state, urged party supporters to carry the message of unity to all nooks and crannies of the state.

“We are more focused on competence and capacity which are needed for a brighter and greater Nigeria under Asiwaju Bola Tinubu,” she added.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was attended by Governors of Kano and Katsina States, Abdullahi Ganduje and Aminu Masari, respectively
