Arise TV debate: PDP and LP are confused

, , ,

PRESS STATEMENT

We read with amusement the ridiculous position of Atiku/Okowa Campaign Council and that of Labour Party/Peter Obi on the absence of our presidential candidate, Asíwájú Bola Ahmed Tinubu, from the poorly organized Town Hall debate session by Arise TV.

The separate press releases from these two dead-on-arrival presidential campaign offices sought to make an issue out of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s well-thought-out decision to follow his own campaign plan.

The more absurd of the two positions was the one canvassed by the spokesperson of Atiku/Okowa campaign. The PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar didn’t also attend Arise News Town Hall Meeting.

Yet his spokesman, out of joblessness and lack of productive venture attacked our candidate, perhaps in pursuit of a media mileage that their campaign badly needs to divert attention from their failing campaign.

We believe that even a palace jester should have a moment of self introspection. If this had been done, the statement would have been unnecessary.

Instead of PDP to tell Nigerians why its presidential candidate has not returned to Nigeria after their purposeless visit to United States where he and his other 15 peripatetic adults were given a cold shoulder by US senior officials, the spokesperson is busy chasing shadows.

We want to state again for the attention of both PDP and LP, that Asiwaju Tinubu will not be railroaded into media appearances and debates.

Asiwaju Tinubu and his running mate have their campaign schedule that they are following and they have been holding conversations with Nigerians at Town Hall meetings and other fora.

The Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council has clearly made its position on debates known in a statement issued by our Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN and that position remains.

We recognize that both PDP and LP have to use Asiwaju Tinubu’s name with the hope that their floundering campaign will gain some traction. Nigerians witnessed the show of shame and despicable exchange on live television between, Mr. Peter Obi, the candidate of LP and Dino Melaye, one of Atiku-Okowa’s palace jesters.

Nigerians will certainly not vote for candidates and political parties that cannot maintain decorum and basic decency on national television.

PRESS STATEMENT

TINUBU/SHETTIMA PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN COUNCIL EXPLAINS OUR CANDIDATE’S ABSENCE AT ARISE TV DEBATE

The APC Presidential Candidate in the forthcoming 2023 Presidential Election, ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU, did not attend the Presidential Debate organised by ARISE TV on Sunday, November 6, 2022, for the following reasons:

Firstly, many radio and TV networks in Nigeria have indicated interests to host such debates and out of deference to other TV and radio stations, our candidate will not be making selective appearances in some networks, whilst ignoring others. As President of Nigeria, by the Special Grace of God, he intends to treat all persons and businesses fairly and equally.

Secondly, the busy and hectic campaign schedules of Asiwaju Tinubu will not permit him to honour all such invitations by different radio and TV networks, hence our decision for him not to start with one TV station and later ignore others.

Thirdly, our candidate had long before now realised the importance of speaking directly to Nigerians and shortly after unfolding his Action Plan as President embarked on Town Hall meetings beginning with his interaction with the Business Community and other stakeholders in Kano followed by the Town Hall meeting and presentation by experts last week in Lagos. Tomorrow, he will be interacting with Agro and Commodity Groups in Minna, Niger State.

Whilst we thank Arise TV for the invitation, we want to assure Nigerians that we shall continue to hold these debate groups and Nigerians in high esteem. Nigerians will hear from our candidate loud and clear through other forums.

Lastly, out of profound respect for Nigerians, we urge all our party structures and supporters at the grassroots to continue to organise town hall meetings to educate Nigerians on the Action Plan of our candidate as we believe a grassroots-approach to reach Nigerians will also be more profound.

Thank you.

PRESS RELEASE

Farming Will Receive It’s Pride of Place, Says Tinubu as Farmers, Fishing Community, Livestock Sector Endorse APC Candidate at Minna Town Hall Meeting

All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has promised to undertake reforms within the farming, fishing and livestock sector that will make the industry competitive.

He also promised to make the agricultural sector the bedrock of Nigeria’s new economy when he becomes president.

Tinubu said this while meeting with stakeholders in the agro-allied sector in Minna, Niger State on Monday, where he received rare endorsements from the crop and livestock farmers and fishing communities.

The groups that endorsed the APC candidate at the townhall meeting included the All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Maize Association of Nigeria, Miyetti Allah Keutal Hore, Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria and Federation of Agricultural Commodity Association of Nigeria.

At the event, Tinubu, who adopted the presentation by the Chairman Progressive Governors’ Forum and Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu, appointed him to head a committee to fashion a blueprint that will help position the Agric sector so that it can occupy its deserved pride of place.

The APC presidential flagbearer in his speech titled “Path to the Agricultural Self-Sufficiency”, emphasised the important role agriculture played in the country’s economy before the discovery of oil.

Present among others at the well-attended event were the APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima, Director-General of APC Presidential Campaign Council, Simon Lalong, host Governor Abdullahi Sani-Bello, Jigawa State Governor Abubakar Badaru, Niger State APC Governorship candidate, Hon. Umar Bago, and other party chieftains.

While directing his speech to the farmers groups, Tinubu acknowledged that all the states in the country have the ability to offer one of two things to ensure that the nation fully produces what it eats.

He said, “Northern Nigeria has great agricultural potential due to its abundant arable land. It must continue to march at the forefront if the sector is to significantly advance at all.

“Every state and the FCT have some degree of competitive advantage in agriculture, whether horticulture or crop production, fisheries, poultry or animal husbandry. Properly developed, these assets will not only satisfy our domestic needs but make Nigeria a global force within a short time.

“If Nigeria fully harnesses its agricultural potential, our exports will rise to the level such that we shall feed much of sub-Saharan Africa, allowing us to better balance our economy while fostering social tranquility, stronger consumer bases and political goodwill between us and other nations in the region and on the continent.”

APC Chairman Adamu, a farmer himself, said Tinubu would do well for the Nigerian farmers because he understands their plight.

Speaking in the same vein, Governor Lalong said the APC presidential candidate is the son of a market woman who traversed both rural and urban communities as she plied her trade adding that as President of Nigeria, Tinubu will connect the city and rural economy to create prosperity for the farmers.

About

Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a man of many traditional honours across the country, from north to south, west to east. The array of titles he has garnered was only comparable to that of Chief Moshood Abiola, winner of the 1993 Presidential election.
